Hey guys, I have been searching the interwebs and watching yt videos and I have yet to find what I am looking for.
I have been searching and pouring over the field service manuals too.
I understand how the hvac controls work. That is not a question.
My question is about the vacuum reservoir and the plumbing from the manifold vacuum source to the firewall connector.
I can see that there are variations on this from the 70's up to about 82 or so. It appears that after 82 the can changes.
There are two cans that I can find online. The earlier 2 port design (1 in 1 out) and a later 1 port design.
I understand how the 2 port works I believe. 1 port is connected to a manifold vacuum source and the other port is connected to your hvac controls.
If you search for a vacuum can for my 1984 c10 all results show the 1 port can. I called my buddy with an 85 and had him look at his and tell me which one his truck had. He has the 1 port.
So how does the 1 port can work? Am I missing a part? Some sort of a multiport check valve? If I hook my hvac control to the 1 port can, where does the vacuum come from? If I hook a manifold vacuum source to the can, how do I connect the hvac controls? Even the field service manual that says it's for an 84 doesn't have accurate drawings or description of what I need to see.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Am I being dumb or what? Is the answer staring me in he face?
Thanks in advance for any help
