went to get it from my parents, registered it, worked on it a bit, and took it on its first drive in years. made it the 450 miles home like a champ, albeit leaking oil the whole way. -

Did a bunch of cleaning of my bbc, ended up taking the carb, intake, and heads off to look around. Everything was really dirty but I didn't find any cracks or grooves in anything. Anyone know if dished pistons were the norm for an 85 454ci engine? Wasn't sure if it was dished or flat top that... -

started taking apart my bbc/sm465 i bought recently, separated motor and trans, got the sccessories off, drained fluids, started cleaning grime off with degreaser and simple green, took oil pan off to clean better.... and found 1 little piece of metal on the magnet. called it a day at that point. -

It is running and driving! I went home this past weekend and got it going and drove it to the shop around the corner from my parents place. The shop is going to give it an in depth inspection to see what it needs to get mostly trustworthy and drive-able and let me know. Can't wait to get it out...- t1xj

I thought I had read they will work with power windows/locks but I could be mistaken. No real decisions have been made, still searching for an OEM harness. Although(to throw a wrench in the mix) I did buy a 454/sm465 mostly complete swap(minus standard cab hump and wire harness) for a good deal... -

Thanks everyone. Coggedbelt: it is in pretty good condition, frame is clean, but cab corners are starting to go. Hotrodpc: it is a bummer but not the end of the world. Once it's at running/ driving condition I'll bring it out to me to get to work on it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- t1xj
