Sanden compressor and bbc Alan grove 122l bracket

Howdy guys, I’m moving to a serpentine setup so my 1000 mile Sanden brand compressor (v belt) and Alan grove bracket won’t be needed. The compressor was $279 and the bracket $120. You can take it all for $120 shipped. https://ebay.us/m/oF0gbd

I think a rod spun a bearing in my rebuilt 454

Going with a blueprint 496. Hopefully not too much motor for the burb lol

I think a rod spun a bearing in my rebuilt 454

Yep but who’s to say that thing is built right too. This pricey guy will back his work locally.

I think a rod spun a bearing in my rebuilt 454

It’s a 2 bolt main. The shop refunded me all money. I moved it to a more reputable (slower and more $$) shop. You get what you pay for with machine work. Looks like it’s time to go forged internals.

I think a rod spun a bearing in my rebuilt 454

I paid with cc. I can just contest the charge and get a chargeback.

But a full cleaning, and bearing replacement is needed. I don’t really trust the cook who burned the food to recook me more.

I think a rod spun a bearing in my rebuilt 454

I found a crate gm vortec 8100 local that I can snag for $3800 but I bet it will be a pain in the ass to swap. I have the sniper setup for this motor, Afr heads, etc.

I think a rod spun a bearing in my rebuilt 454

Labor was $3200 and parts was $2600 ($5800 all in for a complete long block). Looks like now it will be more. If I have to replace all bearings due to metal contamination, piston potential replacement, rods, and maybe crank.

I think a rod spun a bearing in my rebuilt 454

That’s my issue. This shop already had to refund me for bad head work on the same install. Looks like they can either refund me for labor to pull this out, replace gaskets, fix it, or give me my original money back and I’ll go elsewhere. I’m gonna vote for the latter.

I think a rod spun a bearing in my rebuilt 454

My issue is that I paid a shop for a full rebuild and already had issues with the heads. They refunded me for that and I went with aluminum heads instead of trusting them to fix them. Now s bearing is spun and whose to say it won’t happen with other bearings.

I think a rod spun a bearing in my rebuilt 454

Only 4k miles post the machine shop rebuild and knocking started while driving on the highway yesterday. Pulled over and the bearing screech started. I’m really upset about it. What a pain in the butt and wallet.

4l80e conversion in 1985 suburban. What parts do I need?

Thanks. We are running BG full synthetic ATF because we sell it in bulk in our shop. After driving it again today, it appears that it stays at around 170-190 while driving on the highway at lockup. When I get in stop and go traffic (20-40 mph), this is when the temp climbs. Once I stop all the...

4l80e conversion in 1985 suburban. What parts do I need?

Just went and drove the crap out of it. Trans temp warmed up to 205 and then cooled back to 198. I’ll take this to my buddy this next week and get it tuned (engine and trans).

4l80e conversion in 1985 suburban. What parts do I need?

Nick, After we got the plug wire fixed, it drives pretty good. However the second gear shift is really hard and others are not. Also, after normal highway driving, this thing heats up to 210 ish with nothing being pulled and I have an extra Derale cooler in junction with our radiator cooler...

4l80e conversion in 1985 suburban. What parts do I need?

Found the issue. Shudder is most likely a burnt plug wire and dead cylinder:

4l80e conversion in 1985 suburban. What parts do I need?

Thanks Nick. It’s a Holley sniper trans controller and all the line pressure looks to be pretty similar. What is “C3 driven?”

4l80e conversion in 1985 suburban. What parts do I need?

Installed the transmission and drove the first time today. Either this shift tune is bad, or something else is off. This thing feels like a dog now, shift points are too low and worst of all, this thing shudders like a mother when the converter locks up in 4th gear.

4l80e conversion in 1985 suburban. What parts do I need?

My mechanical cluster is in mint condition and I like the charm of the old mechanical dash light glow over modern gauges. I found this speed box gps converter that might do the trick. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/SDU-A-369

4l80e conversion in 1985 suburban. What parts do I need?

Howdy all! We are building a 4l80e for the suburban and I have a sniper harness and controller coming for it to lip into our sniper II on the 461. I have two issues. I need to keep the mechanical Speedo. What does everyone use for this? I see Dakota Digital makes one but I’m not sure how the...
