    How can I tell if im 180 out? Im cranking it by hand and watch the #1 exhaust valve open and close and then the intake valve open and close and keep turning until im on 0. Then drop the distributor so the rotor is on the #1. Both #1 valves are closed at this time Is this not correct?

    I didnt find this to be true. I first adjusted them with the intake off and they were maybe half way compressed. Wont be able to get back to it until Wednesday. I'll charge my battery and see what happens

    So it has spark. The plugs smell like gas so I think theyre getting gas. When I turn the engine I feel compression from the spark plug holes so im lost on why it wont start

    What I did was loosen all rockers and adjusted all over again as I did before. The intake is on and im trying to avoid having to take it off and get another gasket.

    Checked spark with plug to frame while cranking and it has a light orange spark. Thinking battery really low from trying to start. Now I definitely dont know why it wont start.

    not sure why thats quite a jump. why else would the rocker get so loose when the pushrod is straight? all of the other valves are fine. maybe a bad lifter? I will verify spark but dont see how it matters at this point when I know there is a problem with the #8 and wouldnt run it like this anyway

    I got the 062 castings for $50, summit stage 1 intake $125, valve covers came with bolts,gaskets and grommets from ebay $55. intake gasket $25. throttle bracket $10 from summit. almost forgot. vortec intake bolts arp $20 summit

    I set them off of the TDC rotating pushrods until there was a little drag and then 1/2 turn. Adjusted from TDC the 1 intake and exhaust 2,5,7 intake valves and 3,4,8 exhaust. Rotated 360 degrees and did 3,4,6,8 intake and 2,5,6,7 exhaust. the valves open and close when I rotate by hand. I might...

    I took the wire off of the #1 and used a spare plug i had and connected it to the wire while holding it and it didnt spark while cranking if that helps

    Vortec head swap?

    I just did this swap and the stock throttle bracket would not mount to the intake bolt due to the different angle. This one worked perfect for me http://www.summitracing.com/parts/spe-24283
