    Shift Indicator - Yep!

Doing my normal cruise through the ol' marketplace today and ran across this creative engineering on a 76. Better than "factry"!

4L65E Mega Monster Transmission - Destruction and Shift Kit check balls

Excellent point! Out of curiosity, what would it cost have a $250 stock stall converter sent out for a cut and clean?

4L65E Mega Monster Transmission - Destruction and Shift Kit check balls

Sounds good - thank you! Had to look back through my pics, I'm usually pretty good about documenting. Unfortunately I didn't take a pic of the separator plate without the old gaskets on it, nor did I after cleaning it all up and reinstalling it with the new gaskets. I did some research...

4L65E Mega Monster Transmission - Destruction and Shift Kit check balls

Thanks @NickTransmissions - subscriber of your channel and have watched several of your videos, love the content! Yep, all eight check balls accounted for and installed in the stock locations. Yes, I always prefill new torque converters. As for the one in this particular transmission, I...

4L65E Mega Monster Transmission - Destruction and Shift Kit check balls

Awesome information and great feedback everyone - thank you very much! Any thoughts on the check ball configuration? Should I use the larger check balls along with the configuration I found them from the "supposed" shift kit? Or should I be ok with the stock configuration I put them back as...

If 250 is the contained roller bearing of the rear planetary, it was actually there, from what I could tell, chewed all to hell, but the outer ring portion remained. Pic below, I have it turned upright (sorta). The bat wings were gone from all 5 gears in the planetary, only remnants in the pan...

I have detailed pics of the sunshell. I was a little disturbed by the contamination in the weld to be honest, but maybe that’s normal for them? Also you can see the teeth in these.

4L65E Mega Monster Transmission - Destruction and Shift Kit check balls

I appreciate the input everyone. Unfortunately, after some research I've learned the same about Monster. As for the future of this particular transmission, some "around town" reliability would be nice, but the expectation is quite low in it's current state. Should it be utilized in a future...

4L65E Mega Monster Transmission - Destruction and Shift Kit check balls

Hi - Some background...I have a couple of older Chevy pickups, but my grocery getter is a 2004 Tahoe Z71 - which I purchased new, has ~270k on it and I've done all the maintenance on it through the years. I've always held onto it because I have plans of reusing the engine (5.3) and drivetrain...

    What is this for?

Just curious, what purpose does this serve? They appear to go into a recess on the underside of the hood, and are adjustable (vertically). I'm assuming they're some sort of bump stop for the rear of the hood, but metal on exterior metal doesn't seem like a good idea. Thanks in advance!

What are your favorite/ best looking valve covers for SBC?

I like the aluminum finned ones as well - I've used them on my last two builds - 71 C10 and 77 C10.

Exhaust Shop Recommendations - Charlotte NC

Ha ha - well, I feel like you're making me highjack my own thread, but I'll indulge... 77 - it was a mess, did floor pans, rockers, cab corners, cut the bed and chassis down from a LWB to SWB. Started out as a "quick flip" - well, it ended up going a little further than that, fell in love with...

Exhaust Shop Recommendations - Charlotte NC

Hey folks - I'm located in Charlotte, NC (Huntersville, NC specifically) and looking for a good exhaust shop near by to finish up the install on my 1977 c10. I have it completed from the headers (2.5" stainless, x-pipe) to the mufflers and wanted to take it in to finish routing it over the rear...

    Windshield installation

I just did my first windshield and back glass install about 6 weeks ago. I'll be honest, I wasn't looking forward to it. I watched several videos online, including the two posted by FireTruck1984 above. All in all, the process went very smoothly, with just myself installing them both - I...
