Installed my transmission temperature gauge today. The Autometer literature recommended a “short” sending unit if installing it in a pressure test port so as to not bottom it out. I can say that a wire wheel on a drill motor does a great job of transferring grime from the transfer case to your body. I looked like I had changed races by the time I was done. :D -

I am planning to install a temperature sending unit in my TH350 and was leaning towards installing the unit in the 1/8” NPT pressure tap port, circled in yellow. Went after that kick down cable leak on my transmission and decided I would also get a transmission pan with a drain plug! Got everything then removed the kick down cable from my TH350 along with the internal wire/linkage. Installed a kick down cable delete fitting in the transmission housing... -
