What new tools have you got lately?
Bought the gas powered Fortress 30 gallon air compressor for a shop I have with no electrical service. This girl is a beast. I picked it up about a month ago on sale and paid $1711.00 out the door. I'm sure most users are contractors; roofers, carpenters etc who load it in the back of a work... -
Dash Pad Help
I use a heat gun or hair dryer and remove all of the under padding as well, although most don't get it down to bare metal. It helps avoid lumps and uneven surfaces as well as gaps after installing a new dash pad. Just get a quality dash pad and avoid the ebay $69 throwaways and you'll be fine. -
Qjet to 2bbl swap?
Speaking from experience and as someone who drove them back in the day like granny with a short leg, I never, ever experienced better gas mileage with a Rochester 2bbl over a Qjet. All things equal, there may be a 20% difference, or less, in mpg between it and a V8.- GTX63

My best options have been to hit the vendors at truck shows during the summer. That is where I load up on high shipping cost items. #2 is if you have a reputable seller near you, go visit their store in person. Spending $100 in gas and a day trip might seem like a wash, but you know the stuff...- GTX63

Southeastern GM Truck Nationals.......... 2025
It was a great show. The used part swap area had lots of great stuff and the big name vendors were there in force. And yes, it was hot! Funny thing it was just a few miles north from the Nashville Superspeedway where the C10 Nationals are held every fall. -

Coverlay over missing dash pad
The covers are more rigid than the OEM pad. They don't have a lot of "give" or flex so when the sun starts cooking over your truck, the daubs of glue are similar to driving a nail; it causes the areas around it to ripple. -

The SB K5 Blazers had a habit of rusting differently and much faster than the trucks. I saw Blazers that were 10 years old at the time that needed new metal just to support the seats. How many bolts hold the transmission on and where?
None of the housing bolts hold the transmission in place. Those are only there to dampen vibration and be broken off with the ears. The transmission is sealed to the back of the block with a GM factory sludge that can be replicated when reinstalling with cooked 10W40. A 3' pry bar and a strong...- GTX63

73-80 vs. 81-87 side window glass
I've had SB from 74-85 and lots of them. The vent structures do interchange. The tints really didn't change from newer to older as I recall. At least I have never noticed any difference in levels of factory tint shade. -
Help with gauge cluster lights
I have replaced many bulbs in old squarebodies. I also upgrade to LEDS for the difference in brightness. I have found through trial and error to replace the printed circuit panel and any sockets that even look remotely worn or corroded. It just isn't worth the hassle to keep popping the panel...- GTX63

NEW Brothers Dash Bezels - CHEAP
I ordered a non a/c bezel for a 1980 for $40. Great deal. However, they also list a 78-80 bezel with a photo showing it for a/c. Same part #, same price, different photo. I emailed them 2 days ago asking for clarification and am still waiting for a response. -
