    Engine lift points

Best to use 2 chains diagonal crossing each other. Can usually get engines out with one but installation no. What happens when the engine is slid back on the chain to keep it nose high it will be tilted sideways one way or the other. Have use 2 chains many times on fuel injected engines where...

Best media for blasting the body

If available slurry blasting is preferred. Water keeps metal cool. Some media will not remove rust if that is an issue.

    Engine lift points

2nd picture is a factory lift bracket. Never used them. Usually used an intake carb plate. If your buying one get a plate with 5 lift holes not 3 if you can find it. The 3 hole plate balances the engine but usually having engine front higher is better. I use the second hole on a 5 hole plate.

AC redo after sitting disconnected for a long time

For simple and cheap get a drier, add oil as required along with dye, suck it down see if it maintains vacuum. If it does charge it. Chances of that working aren't good, but you never know. Compressor seals will be dry along with every other seal or hose needing replacement. If dye is added at...

No resistance in reverse, drive feels like I'm pushing against the brakes

Not near as much braking in reverse. Smaller front shoe and different material. Yes, jack it up and check for dragging or short drive and a heat gun. Be sure to check emergency brake cable movement. They will sometimes stick and apply the rear brakes.

    Diagnostics Cable Adapter

Will flash 12 three times then current codes starting with smallest numbered ones first. Each code will flash three times then will move to next code three times if more than one. Back to 12 again when all codes have been flashed. Do not disconnect power until all codes have been read...

    1987 R10 305 Belt replacement

Tension by feel. There are tools to measure it but never had or used one. Just get them reasonably tight, should only be able to deflect belt with pressure a 1/2" or so midway between pullys. If the belts are too loose, they will let you know. squeal

Most affordable shipping for body panels?

That's exactly where I got one a month ago, best price. Floor was damaged but not too bad. After all it is a bed already crinkled everywhere.

Problematic Starting - rotate crank before starter engages?

Bad starter drive gear plus starter engagement is rough and noisy. Have been through this countless times on customer cars. Only way it will ever work and sound right is a new ring gear and starter. New starter will not engage properly when the ring is messed up. Shims should not be necessary...

    EFI conversions

They are a little more involved to rebuild and require specific tools. If set up correctly they do work well and adjust for wear and age unlike standard carbs. Might be hard to find someone that is experienced and willing to spend the time to do it correctly.

    1985 K5 350 always running rich?

If indeed running rich cats will convert exhaust to a rotten egg smell. They may also melt down or plug up. Need to fix the problem.

Replace seals on power steering gear box on truck or bench?

The second pitman arm shaft seal is not very accessible. Can drill it and use a slide hammer. Really isn't much more work to take box out, working upside down isn't fun.

    Tina King Chevy/GMC seatbelts

Curious who you're referring to? Just had a 4-retractor set done. Was around 650 for all 3 sets, bench seat. They did a nice job but nowhere near the prices you got.

    1985 K5 350 always running rich?

Manual choke forget that suggestion. Burning eyes is usually excessive hydrocarbons [HC]. A sign it is running lean. There are a lot of causes some are not carb problems. Yes if possible take back to whoever rebuilt it preferably on the vehicle. Over the years have tossed out a lot of...

    1985 K5 350 always running rich?

Are you sure it's rich? Does it burn your eyes that would be lean. Check fuel pressure should be no more than 8 lbs actually closer to 5 or 6, is choke opening and if not does it need or have 12v power? Did you adjust the idle mix? That cannot be set correctly on the bench.

Ruh roh Raggy! I hear you knocking…

When draining oil look for metal particles. If present, you know what's wrong. If ok, pull valve covers inspect for loose or broken parts. If vacuum gauge is available hook it up should be steady. It is also possible a chunk of carbon got dislodged, usually will quiet down if that's the case.

350 tbi stumbles and backfires under load

Lean, low fuel pressure think the specs are 9-13 they will not run near the lower spec, fuel volume plugged filter, have seen defective off brand distributor caps crossfire buy a Delphi they are expensive, bad coil, corroded coil tower, bad plug wires. Belt squeal (while accelerating)/alternator question

Have to respectfully disagree that belt construction is the issue unless width is incorrect. I have installed almost every brand belt out there and with the exception of serpentine belts never had a drive issue like this I could blame on the belt. On pulleys, what you need to pay attention to...

    Caliper rattles...help?

If the caliper is loose just get new hardware. Never had to go oversize with the wedge and spring. Also the outer pad needs to be pinched on the caliper and inner pad has a small spring steel anti rattle piece. That clips on the bottom edge of the pad between pad and caliper. Clean the surfaces...
