    Rebuilt 700R4

Good morning. I have a 700R4 that has had the numbers ground off. I'm assuming that the driver's side metal tag on the tranny indicates a rebuild. Is there a way to decide this tag. Top of tag reads: MD M1 Bottom of tag: Left side: 6204 Right side: 13563 Any information will be greatly...

    Push button ignition

Hope all is well with everyone and y'all are prepped for all that white stuff coming soon. I have a question on installing a push button ignition (hidden) and have seen these installs using a relay and also without a relay. If one was to connect the push button between the solenoid and the...

    instrument cluster

Picked up a decent original instrument cluster and bezel for my 78 gmc k15 as what came with the truck was an aftermarket cluster that doesn't look right. And really doesn't fit right either. The original cluster is missing several lights and the main connector that plugs into the circuit...

    1983 k5 blazer starter grinding!

Glad I found this post....now my whining/questions... I am working on a 78 GMC k15. 350 with 700rh. Here's my dilemma. I cannot for the life of me get the flex plate and started to line up and mesh correctly. It produces a horrific grinding sound. I've shimmed several different times but...

    Brake conversion

After a long cold winter where working in an unheated shop kinda sucks, I'm getting back in the saddle and continuing this build. Wanting to convert from drum to disc on a 78 k15. Looked at numerous kits ranging from $400 to $1000+. Would like some tried and true recommendations as to...

Greetings and salutations right back to everyone...the 78 has a good foundation. frame is solid...no rust on bed or cab. Engine is as old and tired as I am and pulling the tranny to install a new torque converter and have it checked out...

    A little late

Joined last spring but spaced the intro. So far, I’ve received some very good information to what questions I posted. Very impress with the forum. Me...retired and living somewhat remote in the NH mountains. I’m not a mechanic, though I can maintain and repair my own vehicles, to a point...

    Compression readings on 78 350ci

Thanks for all the info. Really appreciate it. Need to run another test as I did everything but get the engine to normal running temps...then do the wet test. Altitude is about 900’.

    Compression readings on 78 350ci

Couldn't find any info on compression test results and lacking the experience of many of you, what should I be looking at for possible problems with these numbers: 1 = 121...2 = 130...3 = 135...4= 131...5 = 150...6 = 135...7 = 136...8 = 134. any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

    1978 gmc k15 starter issue.

Thanks, Dutch. Determining flywheel size would be a good place to start. It would answer some questions too. I did read that starter bolt pattern can determine flywheel size. My starters, both old and new have diagonal bolt pattern, which indicates 168. Is this true?

    1978 gmc k15 starter issue.

Just picked up a1978 gmc k15 with 350ci. I couldn’t find any engine block numbers to reference for right parts, so I “assumed” it was the original engine. I bought a new starter and after install, I pulled out the bendix to take the measurement and found the bendix hit the flywheel, not even...
