Crazy question
OP, I just ordered a front panel for my 72 c10 in February. Some of these panels have fitment issues, just the nature of the game when companies use 40+ year old dies, but I will say that the one I ordered is solid, looks as thick as my old one, and I order most of my panels from Jegs because of...- Knight84

Just looks like it's running rich. Maybe tune the carb before throwing it all away and starting over? The edlebrock's look fairly simple to adjust. In most scenarios it's the simple answer.- Knight84

Weatherstripping
I ordered the rear cargo door set from Steele rubber based on really good recommendations from here. It hasn't arrived yet. I have heard good things about precision too though and that's what's in a box in the garage for my 72. -
New Duel Exhaust
I'm using the 2.5 universal rod builder kit from summit it was only like $220 or so, there's enough stuff in the box to run all the way out the back on my 454 c20 burb on both sides. It's not a direct fit though, I'm welding and cutting it up to fit as needed.- Knight84

Also it doesn't look like it'd be that hard to rebuild, if you wanted to diy. Looks like a ball bearing on one end, probably both sides of the crank, and a journal for the piston rod. Probably need a set of rings for the piston. -

What you describe doesn't sound like a typical bearing failure. That sounds more like a load related issue. I'd check the belts for proper tension and make sure they aren't worn out, and check the air filters to see if they are clogged. Start on the cheap stuff first. -

100%. Man this burb is heavy. My 3 ton jack lifts it but seems to struggle a bit. I think it weighs in a bit over 3 tons. I keep the jack under the crossmember too. Never can be too safe working under a big girl -
Carb swap issues please help!
Make sure the fuel pump isn't too high pressure. Pretty sure carbed systems only need like 5-7 psi. Could be flooding the carb- Knight84

New to the GM Square Body forum and I have a question

Cracked column: rebuild or replace?
No way to stop a determined thief, you can look into a column lock. It'll at least make it harder for them. Unfortunately, the nature of old trucks makes them pretty easy to steal.- Knight84

Kicked ass today. Took a pto day from work and welded up the exhaust. I was hoping to go out the back but it gets purty tight, so I think I'm gonna do turn downs right before the axle. -

Whoo, wires showed up. Damn sure doesn't sound like a tractor with the open headers. Loud and rowdy af. Homemade zip tie wire looms. Wires are pretty long, may go with a custom set soon. Exhaust is next. Pumped to drive this old girl soon -

Sat TOO Long
Tbi has a maf right? I'd check and clean that and the change the fuel filter. My brother's Ford fusion did the same thing. Crank and run if you gave it gas but would die as soon as the gas was let up. His was a clogged up MAF and a bad purge valve. I'd lean towards yours being an airflow issue...- Knight84

Honestly working on old stuff can be a pita, but I wouldn't want a prestine classic. I wouldn't wanna drive it, and I'd be worried about it being stolen all the time. -

Got less than planned done, but still a decent amount. Replaced the valve cover gaskets and adjusted the valves to zero lash. Removed the last ac bracket off the engine, until I put it all back on later this year. Changed belts, tightened down the power steering pump and the loose lines, and... -

How to fix loose gm steering column
Exactly what the thread says at the OP first post, follow the steps and watch a few YouTube videos. There are 4 of these (circled two in the picture) external torx bolts that wiggle loose over the years. You gotta open that bad boy up and lock tite them and reassemble the column. It's a job, but...- Knight84
