    Got Stickers?

Man I messed up and put a bunch of stickers on a mini fridge and it died a couple years later, only the old fridges last. This is on my DD, quite fond of it...

Ladder Rack Review from Harbor Freight (et al)

As an update to this, the other day my cousin and I stood on either side of the truck and pulled down on the front of the rack and not much force made the front and rear sections separate at the clamp. He suggested drilling and bolting them together at the clamp but I opted to seam weld them...

    Ring & Pinion How-To

I've uploaded them to imagur, I dont know much about them or if the same thing wont happen to them like it did imageshack. Maybe this coming weekend we can get @Old77 to unlock a few and I'll fix em. I had a bunch of pics for Dana 60 R&P setup too I uploaded, may do that one too if it's still...

The only problem with that is the 5 pic limit per post. I counted more than 5 in the 1st post.

    Ring & Pinion How-To

I think this is when Imageshack shut peoples' free accounts down, is there a decent free hosting place out there we dont have to worry about shutting down? I still have the original images for this thread.

Ladder Rack Review from Harbor Freight (et al)

No biggie, it's so bad it really is humorous. One other thing that was lacking in the kit. If you didn't want to permanently mount it to your bed, it has these jakey looking J-bolts that go through the little pieces of pipe welded to the bed brackets. I wouldn't trust these things to hold the...

Ladder Rack Review from Harbor Freight (et al)

At the back of the rack are these side hoops that will come in handy getting up on the tailgate. When the front and rear side rails are installed together in their slip joints and clamped, these hoops are a good 3" from their bolt tabs, and have considerable spring tension on them, making them a...

Ladder Rack Review from Harbor Freight (et al)

I'm going to do a review of this ladder rack as a heads-up to others considering it. I've seen it for sale on several other websites and Amazon, and they're all identical. First, if you can't weld you may not want this. I'll have to disassemble some sections of it later and weld/ paint. If you...

Wiring mystery - one unexplained dark green wire left from inline 6 to 350 swap

Looks like the temperature sending unit wire.

truck idles fine dies when put in gear

The 1406 I had, had a section of rubber fuel line between the filter and carb. When I removed the top I took a long piece of coat hanger, hammered a little flat hook on one end, and dug a lot of what looked like black sand out of the fuel passage that goes from the fuel inlet to the float bowls...

truck idles fine dies when put in gear

The Edelbrock idle circuit is sensitive to dirt. You may have to blow out the idle circuit with 40 psi compressed air and install a good paper element fuel filter. The "cleanable" screen filters let a lot of garbage through and eventually clogs it up. You can tune one that has a plugged idle...

    Question on leaf springs

Front lift springs usually have some wedge to correct caster angle to keep you steering geometry right. Rear springs don't need this, it keeps the pinion bearing oiled. Unless you have a lot of lift and need to correct the rear driveline angle, rear springs don't get wedged.

    ~1979 Non-AC HVAC Housing Feeler

Probably a long shot but thought I'd check. 2 of the 3 studs are broke off mine, and there's some heavy rust/loss of metal on the metal components inside. I've already started some rust inhibitor on the metal parts, planned to silicone what I can. I've already read the thread about 3M tape to...

    Engine too cold for sniper??

If you think it is getting warm enough, there may be an air bubble at the temp sensor and it needs burped.

    Engine too cold for sniper??

Only other thoughts would be a high-flow waterpump, or antifreeze types mixed. I even wondered if the crossover in the intake being blocked would help or hurt the issue.

My 350 shutting off while driving

First thing I'd say is add an auto ranging multi meter and a year/ model specific repair manual to your tool collection. It'll have full details to identify and test components, like your fuel pump relay, ignition coil, ignition module, etc. To suddenly shut off like that implies ignition/...

My 350 shutting off while driving

Ignition coil and ignition control module aren't the same thing. Dad used to say an internal combustion engine only needs fuel and fire to run. Solid advice but the newer vehicles go, more elements are in control of both sides of that basic analogy. I'm all for someone learning more about...

Whats the going rate for shortening a driveshaft? I think I got....shafted

Key word was "aluminum". Shortening a steel shaft around here in WV is under $100. Lengthening can run into more, considering they want new tubing. It's best just to bring it in and say work me up something that wont make my wife wanna kill me lol. They have all the yokes and parts needed at a...

    Help with Edelbrock carb

Sounds like a clogged idle circuit. Remove both idle air screws and apply 40 psi regulated air to the screw holes. You may want to remove the top of the carb and make sure the bowls are clean before trying again. Lastly use a quality fuel filter like a WIX paper element fuel filter. Those...

New girl here....Dad was a mechanic on the side

Welcome to the forum! I inherited my dad's square when he passed too. I have good plans for a basic upgrade, not veering far from stock but running much better than stock. Hope you stick around, there's a lot of good, helpful folks around here.

This ethanol 0bama gas can cause a lot of water in the tank causing your pickup tube to rust and get a pin hole in it. Like the others said though work your way to the back.

NP203 Differences Early vs Late Design

I wont be much help here, the ORD guys would be the best source. I know there's a year break but not sure when. I think 76 was the last year for the yoke style front output. As long as ORD says it's safe to run I would go with it. I know you can get external speedo correctors that may fill the...
