Jumping in - 86 k10 long bed (first square body)

Nice truck! Our 86, similar leak. JB weld did the trick (mostly) it still looses a couple drips per week or month. Clean all the rtv off, pinpoint where it’s leaking. Drain fluid, clean the surface. JB the **** out of it!

Fix Slamming Doors - Striker Door Latch Repair

Just moving the striker down a smidge? I understand that raised portion of the striker supports the weight of the door to keep it from “bouncing” in dynamic situations (bumps in the road) so it can’t be moved down to not contact the plate it ride on in the door. I’ll try it when I get a chance...

Fix Slamming Doors - Striker Door Latch Repair

So pursuant to this same issue and fix, where the door latch rubs the striker (pic below), I presume this is just a little sag in the door over time. Drivers side is always worse than passenger for obvious reasons. Is the proper way to fix to shim the door back “up” a little? Which requires...

85 K10 donor and parts for sale

Economy bad? Lol. It’s not selling because it will only sell to someone local and if this is the only place it’s been advertised then the market is even smaller. Like almost non existent. Until someone wants exactly that old ……. We all go, “ooohhh it’s worth …..and you’re giving it away.” But...

Appears I’m mistaken on the front bumper. In that, that is an OE bumper for that year. Leafing thru the 1977 truck brochure online, dezosgarage.com for anyone who doesn’t know about that site, they have the old mfgs brochures copied and posted online. That bumper with the full impact strip was...

Interior sneak peak. Son cleaned it up a bit sent me a pic of the “good” side. Lol. Yea that’s the original dash pad. 1 little crack in the speaker area. Needs carpet and some matching caps with the fancy scroll work for the ends of the pull handles. Have 3 of 4 pieces. Only 2 are good enough...

3/4 454 suburban exhaust, modify factory or strip to new!

Interesting options. Depends how solid the old pipes are and cost to do all the modifications. IMO calculate both options completely as it may cost as much or more to mod a set of 30+ year old exhaust pipes.

Most affordable shipping for body panels?

Under the windshield is a *****. (I just went ahead and bleeped it out manually, lol.) Honestly if the rust under the windshield is bad at all, you need a donor cab or at least the chunks to replace. Otherwise forming those shapes will be difficult.

Most affordable shipping for body panels?

I never noticed your name didn’t match your handle until yesterday. Lol Agree drivers inner fender prolly more than not rotted. I’ll keep my eyes peeled. What are you looking for in all? You mentioned hood and doors. Rockers and patch panel stuff just buy new. Even if someone cuts out good...

Most affordable shipping for body panels?

Chad or Chuck, unless you’re looking for slosh tubs, old oe inner fenders and sheetmetal is the way to go. I’d advise the opposite and go with old takeoff OE parts over most aftermarket sheetmetal. You should be able to find everything you need up here imo. Not like the poor folk who live in...

    LMC Parts

I think it’s hit n miss. My dash from the Truck Shop a few years back, I don’t remember what brand it is, was/is great. Until last year it warped up by one of the defroster vents. All was good until the kid was parking it in the sun daily for a couple months off n on. Hope the new one fits...

Ya, the condition of vehicles was surprising to me as well, and my theory is (coastal only, different as soon as you hit the mtns and east of that) no road salt because it rarely freezes (in recent years they mag the roads whenever it’s NOT raining in the winter because it’s damp and frosty and...

Like this one? Buddys truck. Bought it from his bro in law probably 20 years ago for not much money cause it was old and needed repairs. lol. It literally sits outside 24/7/365 and still in good shape.

There’s another one up just across the border here. Same color, arguably better condition. Not horribly priced. You’d freak out, out here. This truck might get a couple thumbs up as is, but fairly common to see decent to nice old squares both in daily use and car shows.

Nice. Thanks. It’s on the shortlist of improvements. For sure. Haven’t measured but being a F44 truck I think it has the long (56”? Idk) springs.

Power steering fluid .. what type ?

Thought of this thread last night driving the new square home. PS was whining and turn signals didn’t work. We dropped into the first Vato Zone for juice and a flasher. But I checked the dipstick first. It was clear/pink. lol. What to do? Bought PS fluid since only the best for her and it is...

    Useful parts on a '96 K3500 for a Squarebody?

Any body parts that aren’t rusted or smashed up. Don’t seem like much in the PNW but rust free panels on 30-40 year old vehicles are rare in some parts of the country. And with the age and popularity of gmt400s now used OE sheetmetal is pretty valuable.
