IMO, Anything that has a rusted frame probably has no body worth saving left. And not running but not rusty, in the rust belt means it came from somewhere else and will bring a premium for the clean body. Plus he said he’s striking out locally on a clean cab. Find a good cab and parts and take a drive west. You’ll be money ahead. It might be a 2000mile drive but rust free parts are plentiful in the PNW. Good cabs get scrapped here sometimes because there’s not much of a local market. Hoods fenders and beds sell quickly becuase some trucks here are...- Grit dog

I feel ya. Although I hope you will have nowhere near what a shop like this costs into your truck. I’ll be almost $100k deep into it. Take away the 100s of tons of fresh driveway gravel and it’ll be about 90k. That was largely hiring out the build for a bit less than going rate and doing my own... -

Was the bed replaced maybe? Don’t see any holes or evidence of the trim being removed or falling off. Is that the original color? Not sure I’ve seen that color early square ever. Doesn’t matter, what an awesome time capsule. Hats off to your MIL!!- Grit dog

One advantage of doing everything “now” makes it easier to do what you want or need. On the flip side you have alot of shop or barn space now as I recall. Which is awesome. I ran a legit 100A service to the shop and including about everything a guy would need for power. Even a 30A RV plug on... -

Both dogs are absolute grunge balls. Impossible to keep clean, they spend too much time in the fields digging… The other one is Kinley. She’s just a friendly bear. Fresh Summer buzz cuts. In the winter they both look like they’re 20 lbs heavier with long hair. -

Wow! Lucky guy! My MIL is a mental case and not only doesn’t own a square body and they won’t be giving any inheritance to their children…. On another note, looks like they added the rain gutters to it. Personally I love the look of the 73s with no rain gutters. Almost shaved them off the 86...- Grit dog

Got a bit more done last weekend. Ran power and gas. Wired the panels. Touched up the fine grade and compacted the base. Started wiring. Pouring the slab Friday. Overhead doors in a few weeks. -
K30 build, frame clean up
Meh….I think the Detroit Steelies and Grabbers on our K20 are about 150lbs each. Still gets 7 mpg downhill with a tailwind like it did before… Besides i bet the duals are 200lb per side….im joking. I know those big truck wheels don’t fit but it’d look bad ass with something similar!- Grit dog

No hate here. Thats a bad ass lookin car! I believe you on the BMW thing. Simply by the fact that resale on older ones (not old like old, like 10-15 years old) is absolutely abysmal says enough. Appears you’ve narrowed it down to something south of the clutch. However also being “time related” like something has to warm up before the noises start, in order, is confusing to me. I can’t think of something like that. Especially not engine related, as the trans, driveshaft and rear axle...- Grit dog

I would 100% rock one of these squarebody look K2X trucks. But only in the 2013-14 half ton model like this one with the stacked square headlights. It’s still a mush mash because square headlights with Big10/ Heavy half designation didn’t exist. But it’s cool.- Grit dog

They are really common. Not sure there’s a “best” one. I’d think any one from any known parts shop would be fine. Napa may even be able to get it quickly.- Grit dog
