Can Anyone Help Me Identify My Vortec 6000 Engine?

As stated, those covers can be put on any Gen3 engine and some Gen4s as well. A good place to start is to check the front edge of the passenger side head, just below the valve cover. There should be a 3 digit number there, that'll tell you what heads you have. Beyond that, finding where it's...

Hey, it wouldn't be a fresh build without some sort of issues! Thankfully it sounds like some small ones, glad you've been able to work through them. Fingers crossed for a good first drive!!

What new tools have you got lately?

As part of our circus act in Columbus for the GoodGuys show (assembling a squarebody from almost nothing to a mostly complete truck in 3 show days), there were a good many tools that were donated that came home with us and were divvied up amongst the guys. I'm the only one without a hammer/dolly...

    New to me Cat Eye

So I went with the BTR Truck Norris (the bigger one, not the NSR), LS6 springs/lifters/pushrods/trays/etc. It sounds great and runs great, lots of power gains in the mid-range, right where a 5.3 makes power. 9 out of 10 days, I love it. But I will say there are some days I get annoyed by the...

Stolen truck found after 30 years

Huh? Mine does it all the time. LH6 5.3/3.90s on 20s with 28" tires - 4L65E and BTR stage 4 v2 truck cam originally, now a T56 with a TSP Bald Eagle cam. 18-22mpg regularly on road trips, even got 24 one tank. In town is a different story though lol

    New to me Cat Eye

Good score! These are the best trucks they ever made, I've had several of them. I did similar with my current '05, bought it off a 72yr old guy bone stock and proceeded to ruin it lol. BTR cam/Circle D converter/4.56s/35s/yada yada

Dropping my Stock '74 Stepper - Need Advice

My '85 rubbed REAL bad with the 235/75/15s. You are correct that round eye inners have more room, it's about an inch extra in all directions. However, you'll likely still rub on big dips.

    Indianapolis C10

Sorry for your loss. A good resource would be Bring A Trailer’s website. Find some comps and see what they either sold for or were bid to. It’s not gospel, but a decent base

Dropping my Stock '74 Stepper - Need Advice

This was 2.5” spindles with 1 coil cut for about 4.5” up front. 6” flip kit in the back. 15x8s all around with 235/75/15s. It rubbed pretty good up front. Had I kept the rallies, I was gonna do a 245/60 and 275/60 combo

What have you done to your square lately??

I’ve done lots of stuff the last few weeks. Installed the rear disc kit, made all new brake lines, got the brakes and clutch bled up, put the body back on and lined up, fenders cut up for the bigger SloshTubz, new AMD core support installed, SloshTubz mounted for the last time, intake put on and...

    6L80e Swap

My buddy put a 6L80 in his C30 with the low floor, no issues. I found these for reference on the google: 4L60 vs a 6L80 But cutting the floor isn't a big deal if ya had to. We've got the high hump cover at AMD, throw some rivnuts in the floor and bolt it in, buy high hump carpet and you're done
