EXCESSIVE oil leak - Burning off exhaust, but from where?

Another bit, I tuned up the motor and let it idle maybe 30-40 min outside. I wrapped the motor up a hand full of times as I was tuning the carb. I did see a puddle of fresh oil afterwards on the drivers side. Maybe the size of a softball. My suspicion is that in idle, it doesn’t blow back onto...

EXCESSIVE oil leak - Burning off exhaust, but from where?

I can smell it burn. Also, I put some marvel mystery oil in the crank case as I do most of my cars and from time to time, I can specifically smell that burning. Transmission shifts fine. What would cause that? Are you saying implying like a burnt clutch smell? Trans was supposedly rebuilt by a...

EXCESSIVE oil leak - Burning off exhaust, but from where?

I will check the valve covers again, but I ran my finger around them. They are not wet. Back of the motor is not wet either. No sender on the housing, but there is a plug. I suppose maybe that is leaking? I put a new pcv valve and hose on. Also, I did test to see if it was over pressurized. I...

Low oil pressure but engine runs great

I have the same issue. My guage shows 7 psi and barely moves. I hooked a manual guage up and instead of 7, it read 52 psi. The guages are not always accurate.

EXCESSIVE oil leak - Burning off exhaust, but from where?

They are snug, I did not want to strip the bolts. My rear main does seap a little, would that burn off the exhaust? Here is a pic of the back of the block. It is dry. Rear main does seap a bit. Noticed that when I pulled the cover and did a starter.

EXCESSIVE oil leak - Burning off exhaust, but from where?

Hey guys, I have a 350 that I can’t stand to drive anymore. I have an excessive wave of burning oil come into the cab after every acceleration. Problem is, I am lost. I cannot find my leak. I’ve done valve cover gaskets, but it is still there. Bellhousing is clean, I suspected it might be...

    350 Running warm

I wasn’t stating that those guages are 100% accurate. You will also note that both engines were fairly cold, I was just showing how one was a range type guage, the other was numerical. The level on the temp guage has no relation to anything other than that is how warm the engine was when I took...

    350 Running warm

Great info guys! I am going to put a new thermostat in it first. Might have a 195 like you all have stated. Radiator is clear, doesn’t have any obstructions. I’ll then flush it. I think the coolant is pretty new, the previous owner had swapped his other 350 into it the suburban not long ago...

    350 Running warm

Interesting. The radiator was painted by a previous owner, should I consider that as a possibility? Other than that, cooling system is like new. Radiator is very clean. Would like a 180 degree thermostat help the issue?

    350 Running warm

Hey guys, I have a Vortec 350 in my 1991 squarebody suburban that runs a touch on the hot side. It runs about 210 degrees, but at long red lights it tends to get peak out at about 215, never anymore. The radiator looks to be new, the fan clutch works, I am also running a shroud. My 1979...

Fuel pressure regulator mount ideas needed

Hey guys, I currently have a fuel pressure regulator mounted to the firewall above the passenger side header. It’s been making me nervous, is this okay or should I look into relocating it? If so, any ideas? Thanks !

Need help with identifying my door year

That is my concern. Seems to be later vent window locks and later handles, but I could be wrong. One of the doors had a 1981-1987 door panel like the one in this link, the other had no door panel. https://www.usa1interiors.com/1981-87-fullsize-chevy-truck-silverado-door-panels.html My other...

Need help with identifying my door year

Hey guys, I picked up a set of doors that were off of the truck when I bought them so I have no idea what they are off. I first thought they were 81+, but I bought window vent seals for an 81+ and they do not fit they are 2 piece riveted, not 1 piece), definitely has the pre 81 vents. These...

    Vinyl wrap dash pad

One thing that I have learned from using vinyl wrap is that it shows everything… I sanded a roof down and put vinyl wrap over it and could see just about every sand scratch. With that said, if you have cracks, it will without a doubt show. If you are looking for cheap options, I recovered my...

    Best $6 I ever spent.

I’ve never seen that before? That’s quite interesting. Since this thread appears to have resurfaced, I might as well give you an update. The concerns about fading as well as the gorilla glue potentially not holding up are negligible in my case… I have no complaints 20 months later. The only...

Yeah, that is true. I wasn’t sure if these were new items or what… That on top of not having any reviews… had me hesitant to buy anything before checking out what others thought.

    Anybody use classic industries

Hello all, Looking for opinions/input on seat covers. I came across classic industries and am thinking about doing a dark brown seat cover from them, but I’m also consider the tan. My question is if anyone has run these covers, how do they fit/hold up? I’d also like to hear some of your other...

What do I need to do with my floors?

I did not weld and I did not use any self tappers. Everything that had POR 15 was metal that cleaned up good, then I coated it. I riveted the whole pans down after putting seam seal on the perimeters of where I cut out metal so that water does not get trapped from the bottom side as well as the...

What do I need to do with my floors?

I went ahead and put new pans in both sides after I cut the bad metal out. I was considering putting rockers in it down the road so I figured whatever I do now will probably just get redone when I do the inner and outter rockers. If not, I think my repair will be sufficient for my use. I did POR...

What do I need to do with my floors?

Hey all, long story short, I bought carpet for my truck, tore up the old carpet and found bubbling paint and some exposed rust so I beat the devil out of my floors with a scew driver and a hammer and I found some unfortunate news… floors don’t look good after some of my abuse… The whole...

    Holes in roof. Any Ideas?

If these are antenna holes, you could get NMO antenna plugs. It’s hard to tell the size in the picture, but I’ve had a couple ex cop cars that have tons of holes in them and I was able to plug the antenna holes with plastic snap in caps. You can even sand them and paint them I suppose, so that...
