I powder coated a lot of those parts on the '77. The downside is powdercoat can be thick enough to cause some interference issues. On the '90 we are doing now, I will most likely Cerakote.
All your pedals or just gas? Empire fabrication sells a gas pedal relocation that moves it an inch closer to the driver so that the pedals are more in line. I think I paid around $45
I just want to say that Ricko is continuously going above and beyond on this forum and his post is representative of this. While I might respond to a post, he actually takes time to mock up an example and to explain and take pictures. Always positive, helpful posts. Thanks Ricko!
This is a sticker I've put on a few trucks around town.
*Edit...you can buy them on Blipshift.com. They have a lot of cool shirts/stickers but I don't think I've ever seen square body stuff
He may not want to admit that he made his truck handle worse. 500 pounds in the bed of a taco can be rough, I can only imagine that much weight above COG.
Fortunately I have a 10x10 vertical wall tent and bunk bed cots. The cots are as comfortable as a bed. But as soon as my youngest is done with scouts, I plan to sell most of my camping gear off.
Best tent is a $50-100 tent at Walmart that you can throw in the bed of your truck when needed and in garage the rest of the time
If you actually do any offroading, adding 200 pounds to the highest point can make vehicle unstable. Plan on damaging it on tree limbs as well. Also creates a lot...
Never have I had the frame vins checked and compared to the door or dash plate.
I think it really is a non-issue especially considering the amount of trucks built with aftermarket frames.
The weight was probably 250. Two of us could lift/ move it on/ off trailer.
Isn't all your vin info on the right frame rail?
What are your plans for the truck? Any performance, bags, engine swap? Now would be a good time to install frame reinforcement such as GSI or Porterbilt if you plan to...
I know a few of you are going to disagree with me but I really don't think any sort of jig is necessary. The OP isn't doing any fabrication, purely replacing one riveted part for another. With 5-6 cross members it should square up as tightened. Again, these frames flex significantly and aren't...
Not really a big deal to do. While we didn't separate all the way down, we did remove all but 2-3 cross members for repairs/ replacement.
These frames are pretty flexy and aren't perfectly square from new if you ask me. Don't tighten all the way until all bolts are in and really should square...
Currently I own neither but plan to install the VA kit on my '77 and upgrade the factory system on my '90 CC. I've been in a couple trucks with the VA system, both the previous Gen 4 and Gen 5. I believe the Gen 5 and restomod are very comparable in performance. I think the old system was...
I did a kit for '68 Impala and '77 C10. Nice but PITA to fit.
Then I found out about a place near me in Phoenix that could make and install the lines cheaper than I could buy from Inline. I would suspect every major city has a shop that only does hydraulic lines. They have large roles of...
Whenever I do this, I put affected cylinder at TDC, compressed air in exhaust pipe and shavings, hopefully, blow out as drilling.
Additionally, I WD40 or PB for a day or so.
And, white grease on bits/ extractors to catch shavings
