    CUCV axle and transmission swap

Gathering parts for converting my 86 CUCV to 3/4t axles w/4.10:1 gears, sm465/205 with 35" tires. My question is what is a good 6.2l Diesel clutch kit with flywheel kit for the job. I do a lot of off-roading in a variety of terrains from mountains, mud, rocks and beaches.

    6.2l diesel TH400 shifting issues

My 6.2 uses an engine driven vac pump (located where the distributor in a gasser would be). In my case it serves only to provide vacuum to the modulator via a vac control valve (VCV) mounted on and controlled by the fuel injection pump (IP). I have verified and adjusted that to speck. Shifting...

Two days ago while doing some maintainance I Found and replaced the vacuum lines from the mechanical Vacuum pump to the VRV (on the IP) and...

    Dual front shocks

The advantage of dual (quad) shocks is the ability to better control unsprung weight. BIG tires (heavy) will benefit otherwise it's mostly show IMO

    Block Flush

FYI Vinegar will not hurt any of the metals in your system and is very effective in removing the lime scale in the system. Just flush thouroughly before refilling the system with coolant

Weird Starting Issue After Putting It Back Together

When you use your stick to find TDC are tyu sure you are on the compression stroke. When you are finally sure your dist is in correctly right tooth etc. Put your damper at 8-10 deg before TDC. Then with the cap off and rotor pointing to #1 cyl you can rotate the dist watching the rotor to...

BTW a different stall may well be in there also. Depends on your Cam choice

    Cam decision

That requires some special tools, math and heads off at least 1 for getting measurements. You must know the measured volume in CC's of the Combustion chamber, the Head gasket and the area in the cylinder and lastly the dish or valve notch volume. That compared to the swept volume (cylinder...

    Cam decision

A Roller cam is always better for a couple of reasons. However they are spendy and unless you're looking for a very quick throttle response or higher rpm (above 6500 rpm) not really necessary. They are Kool though. I am using a GM 350 HP Hyd rollerin an engine my wife is building because I...

    Cam decision

What gears are you running and what do you want from the truck ie Tow/trails or street performance These are both important to cam selection. The camshaft is essentially the brain of your engine and determines where in the RPM range torque and horsepower occur. That said if towing consider...

1 ton wheels on 1/2 ton truck?

This is what you have left after you lose a battle with the he tides. The beach took this one about 6 months ago. Not being properly prepared is Fatal for any truck caught by one

What have you done to your square lately??

Today and tomorrow the Blazer gets a new water pump, Finish the Flowmaster exhaust, left bank injectors, oil and filter, and rear brake inspection ( if I can get the drums off. The pump job gets me a very happy view of inside the front of the engine. Very clean and timing gears like new...

1 ton wheels on 1/2 ton truck?

True that. I like challenge and Finesse though sometimes plain brute power is the only answer. Here where most of my local wheeing is on our beach along Kachemak Bay and Cook Inlet. Rocks, sand and winter ice with Tides to answer to thrown in.

1 ton wheels on 1/2 ton truck?

Taller is better but not to wide. Wide pushes to much snow when it's deeper than a few inches. As for breaking axles you can do that at any speed. If a tire slips then grabs when you have power in it u- joints and axles are weak in your truck. You have 10 bolt differentials I think. Not GMs best.

Taller is good in the snow. Just don't go to wide Wide pushes too much snow when it gets deeper than a few inches.
