Just an update: Picked up the gem of a turbo. I've read this is the one of the best turbos you can get for 4bt. It was only available for 2 years and are kinda hard to find. fan and overflow installed.

I would rather have the best of all worlds with a deep first and a high overdrive. That's my feelings anyway. I don't think the Aisin from behind the 6.7 will work. I believe changes were made and I don't know of an adapter for it but I could be wrong. Here is a website popular for different...

    1987 Silverado Help!

I think about 150 for a used motor, but all the cylinders should be within about 10% of each other.

So it burns oil/smokes, it has a high idle, and it sputters at wot. Have you checked compression? Just verify it's not rings or head gasket.

The engines parallel with the 6bt as far as years. Mine is a 1990 block but it was in a 1986 stepvan. They are still using these engine today. They are just computer controlled. People who run low gears usually do with big tires. Even the stepvan i owned had 4.10s with huge tires. I don't recall...

fold down rear seat for a crew cab?

I would think the middle of a burb would be better. If you wanted to load it you wouldn't have seat exposed.

I know the feeling about wanting to do to much to these vehicles. Just an FYI. These stepvans are all aluminum bodies and if you cut out all the steel you can scrap them for .45 cents a pound right now in Wichita. Prices varies with city and time of the month... Lol

Well just for starters this is a very expensive engine for a rebuild. My kit alone was 700 bucks. About 1400 if you go to cummins for their gold plated kits. In the GM step vans they come with a 400 turbo and a Chevy adapter. They also use a chevy alternator and starter. There is a 10 degree...

    turboed 454

I'd sell yeah an h1c off a 1st gen cummins. It has a rebuild kit in it but I snapped the pin wheel. They are about 80 bucks. It also needs an exhaust housing. They are about 100 used. If your interested 50 bucks or with my current housing for 150 plus ride.
