    Does it act that way with the engine not running? I had an Edelbrock carb whose throttle shaft bore was pretty worn. When not running, it was fine. But,when running, the force of the air on the butterflies caused the shaft to bind to and act the way you describe. That's my $.02.Now I'm broke.

    Though it does not appear to be bent, the rigie dimensions appear to be consistent with my original support. The dimensions to the rearmost edge of the lower flange appear to be 3/8" to 1/2" "tall" so to speak. I will remove the core support and attempt to "adjust."

    It has been a while since degreeing the cam......... I think I have a thread on that somewhere... As I recall, Willhoite said they put 4° advance into the cam, and I instaalled it with no additional advance. It degreed out perfectly to the specs when I checked.......... Heads are aluminum BTW....

    Dunno if it will cause a hood problem or not, but the radiator brackets are above the radiator by a good 3/8" I measured and the support is taller than the original by that amount.     I do not have a tach as of yet, but I would gestimate the idle speed in neutral (manual tranny? to be 750-800rpms. The distributor is a new MSD, and the timing at shutdown is 12°. Is there something equivalent to the old dwell tack for HEI !!
