Looking at blemished Vortec Heads on EBay...

If this makes any sense I hope it helps you out. Its a hobby as well as a life skill, if you enjoy the challenge dont be discouraged by anything. Go get a book and read your ass off, read 100 opinions about it on the internet and then attack it in your own way. Anyone claiming to know...

Fresh big block with low oil pressure at idle.

Its showing zero on the gauge at idle when warm. Light turns on if it drops below 15, I would like the factory stuff to work like it did in 1990 so factory gauge is staying. Yes the cam bearing holes lined up when I installed them. No crap in oil galleys unless it produced its own and...

Fresh big block with low oil pressure at idle.

I checked it the last go around, still have the mechanical gauge all ready to go. I had it hooked up during initial breakin. If my rocker fix does not work im going to suspect the gauge again because the free bigblock I gave away had a nearly perfectly new bottom end according to the dude I gave...

Fresh big block with low oil pressure at idle.

I have a suspicion of whats going on here, just wanted some other opinions on it. All bearings spec'd out, fresh cam bearings and a brand new oil pump. It has good oil pressure after start up, its only when the engine warms up that the gauge reads low and the light comes on. Its the same...

    Love Jeeps?

Funny thing about the FC150 is I barely learned what one was thanks to the internet and really wanted to find one. I went home to visit my parents and there was a FC150, un effin believable. Other jeeps are my dads, one is a CJ-5 with a hot rodded AMC V8 and a 4 speed. He got it as an...

Looking at blemished Vortec Heads on EBay...

That ebay page has some smokin deals! Those heads you posted a link too are bare heads without any of that shit ya need. Im not even sure how that works, do you try to just order valves with the same angles as those seats? Do you have the machine shop put it together or do you do it yourself...

    Harbor Freight Tool/Product Review

Tell you what man, the earthquake impact gun is a bad mother fucker. My dad was shopping for a good ingersol rand unit and I told him all about the harbor freight special and how good it is at snapping wheels studs. After a couple youtube videos he was convinced, I think im gonna leave it with...

    Autometer Tach Wiring

:happy175: Another one of these guys huh? How about you take that sweet ass of yours over to a better forum as Hotrod mentioned, maybe you will get along with the guys at 67-72chevytrucks.com. My autometer tach has like 10 feet of wire hanging out of it, I cant confirm but it seems like...

    Brakes on differentials?

They are axles off of a big military truck, like the duece and a half. Thats just how they are designed, the pinion actually points up and the ring lays flat if I remember right. The reason you seem them on the big huge mud bogger trucks is their strong as is and available off of a surplus of...

    carb suggestions for a 350

Something that should be mentioned with all this carb discussion- There is a difference in rebuilding a carb and installing a rebuild kit on a carb, I learned this firsthand. The quadrajet is simple if you have a clue what you are looking at, I recommend them completely but I also recommend...

    Rotor Help

I found a couple threads that you could look through- http://www.gmsquarebody.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1116 http://www.gmsquarebody.com/forum/showthread.php?t=115 Replacing rotors and hubs depends on a few things, you more than likely dont have too. If the brakes ended up metal to metal you...

    most reputable trans builder?

Im in the same boat, instead of finding a ready to bolt in unit I am probably going to tear mine down and do it myself. There is a series of books called the "benchtop series" at Barnes and Nobles. I have gotten several of them on everything from rebuilding my big block to understanding...

    Sound Deadening yes or no??

I hear alot about lizard skin but have never tried it. I am a fan of Dyna mat, that stuff is the shit. Just cut it to shape with a razor knife, peel and stick where you want it. I did doors only in my 85 and it cut WAY down on noise in the cab, I highly recommend that stuff.

    whats it worth??

My dad said the same thing, in his life time of being a mechanic he has seen two that actually needed replaced and one was in a vehicle struck by lightening. Mis-diagnosis has to be the only reason there is a market for them, when all else fails its gotta be a bad computer right?

    PVC question

I dont know how your truck is running but mine had these problems: Idle would be okay while the engine was warming up, after driving the idle would be all over the place and rough. After a little bit of driving it would stumble from a stop and hesitate to take off. Driving on the highway was...

    PVC question

I might have just had a plug in the valve cover, I cant even remember. For all I know it was an open hole, I really did not care about that engine too much. The carb needs a pcv valve to run right, its also one of the oldest most important emission control on an engine. If you dont run a pcv...

Talk me into or out of TBI

I am a quadrajet fan, also enjoyed my 1406. TBI is the shit, I have one Jims86 rebuilt for me on my freshened up big block in the dream truck and I wont look back. If you drive it on the street on a daily basis just go TBI. I learned alot about TBI on my engine project, basically all you...
