    SBC rocker adjustment problem

Not much, Eldebrock performer plus cam with the 5802 springs from the old heads. Now that you got me thinking of thread in studs, got to looking at getting a boss cutter since I have the removal and thread die guide already (from a previous attempt at being a dumb ass, did a set of heads and...

    SBC rocker adjustment problem

I would have done that, just don't have a stud boss cutter to take the boss down to the right height for screw in. My uncle is old time engine builder, the way they used to do it was pin the studs, I wasn't too fond of that idea.

    SBC rocker adjustment problem

Okay, ran across something that I'd never seen before or maybe just never noticed on my plow truck 350. Basics...this is a 350 4 bolt GM Goodwrench motor that was in my 82 plow truck about 10k on motor, PO did some cooling system no-no's and ended up with blown head gasket and warped head. I...

    454 of choice

I'm looking at a similar question...found a good running '73 454 with a Th400 on it for $700. Told it is a 2 bolt block, stock bore (as far as owner knows). I want to do a 496, for right now just plan on throwing it in my truck and running it till I have all the parts to do my build. Has anyone...

I thought it was 78, the 77 still had a noticeable bumper, usually painted the car color.

MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

Funny, I used 2 1/2" 10 GA seamless carbon steel boiler tube for my 71, was left over from doing an economizer project. I'ts lasted great and helped quite the drone in the cab a bit, was just a pain to bend though because OD was slightly larger than the shoe I used, so had to do many small bends...

MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

Got super 40's on my 71 GMC, 1 5/8" headers with 3" collectors, back to 2.5" X pipe under the trans tailshaft to 40's and angled out if front of the rear tires...sounds awesome! No point in having a radio in the cab though, would never hear it, lol. 40's with mufflers back by the axle and out...

    Looking for a new dash

I did one of the skins on my 86 burb, turned out better than I expected, looked good, just the minute you touch it you realize it's not original because it's hard plastic. I had Just Dashes redo a pad for one of my 75 Monza's, turned out awesome! Wasn't exactly cheap, but can't buy even...

    88-98 Chevys, 99-02 Chevys, and 94-01 Dodges.

Bottom line, trucks or cars are mostly money pits. In the last 33 years of the 128 odds and ends of cars and trucks I've had/still have, I think the only one that I bought for $1k, put $400 of parts into it and haven't touched it since is my 96 Geo metro. Drive the dang thing everywhere, don't...

    Pto

You could rig the pump up say under the truck to be driven by the PTO and have some hoses made with quick connectors to go to the ram set valve, then use an adjustable throttle lock cable like a boom truck uses to set your rpm where you want it to get desired pump rpm.

Another kit with relays that would be great for under the hood. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Waterproof-Universal-Off-Road-Relay-and-Fuse-Power-Distribution-Center/182445594617?hash=item2a7a9ad7f9:g:WRUAAOSw2xRYmOYV&vxp=mtr

Sometimes you just stare in amazement....

I can just imagine the horrors, lol. Been an industrial electrician for 18 years through power plants and sawmills, think I've only encountered three electricians that really knew what they were doing, most even with a license can barely understand the code book or even care. In the mill i'm at...

    88-98 Chevys, 99-02 Chevys, and 94-01 Dodges.

Honestly, the only thing the Rams had going for them was the Cummins. I hated everything else about my '99. Destroyed one auto and after $3k with a $1k torque converter, finally held up to my foot. In 7 years I replaced every damn part in the front end at least twice and I was only running...

buick 455 big block in a 1980 gmc 1500 rwd pickup

Love the 455's, I've done a buick and pontiac and 2 olds. Always wanted to try and build a copy of the famed stage 2 buick 455 and build a tribute '70 GSX, had a GS that I ran both a buick and olds 455 in when I was just out of high school, car was full blown beater with rust and plexiglass back...

85 c10 square body no spark HELP!!!!

Another thing, have you checked the pick-up coil to see if it's good? It's the gizmo under the rotor that the ignition module plugs into, should be two wires with a plug end, can check it with an ohm meter. Easiest to check with distributor removed and rotate it by hand checking across the...

What spark plugs do you run?

I mostly use just basic autolites in my sbc's, mostly because at least half of my previous burnt oil from sucking it in at the guides, lol. The autolites would be almost gobbed over and still firing before I would have to clean them where most of the delco or NKG's would be dead in the water...

    Ignition switch popping fuses

Just curious, you said you were messing with timing, possibly bump some wiring running behind the distributor at the firewall, the stuff that drops to the starter? Also, you have headers? Place I've had the most issues with in the past on GM is wiring dropping to starter right at the bellhousing...

Not much difference in the blocks of SyTy vs. other 4.3's, had looked into this extensively in planning to build my own Typhoon from ground up.
