'83 305 No more ESC, but now it is dieseling

I'm late to the party on this one but in my truck's case, dieseling was the result of a bad vacuum leak. Perhaps check those vacuum lines if this one is still happening.

What is this in my engine?

Took me a while to figure these out on mine because one was broken. The one circled allows vacuum through AFTER the engine coolant reaches operating temperature. Believe it runs to ported vacuum. The one above it on the thermostat housing lets vacuum through BEFORE the engine coolant reaches...

    '85 C10 Door Removal

Update: Was definitely over-thinking this. I just drilled out the pop rivets and will rivet them back in. Rebuilt the hinges with new pins and bushings. That has gone well. Now...about those vent window rebuilds... :)

    Spring Lowering Bracket Oddity Question

Hey everyone. I’m getting deeper into my ‘85 C10, doing a general cleanup and repaint. I have the bed off. And I noticed something today. The truck has lowering brackets on with the HD springs. But, it looks like one side is in the upper position of the lowering bracket, and the other side...

    '85 C10 Door Removal

That's interesting. mine appear to be riveted in four points (or maybe that was just the one on the door). I don't think your boot retainers look the same with the 2 screws. Mine's an 85. What year is your truck? NVM. It's an '86. I see your sig.

    '85 C10 Door Removal

I'm too new here to go off on a humorous tangent, but that was my first reaction.

    '85 C10 Door Removal

Yeah, it all depends on how you look at the problem, doesn't it? I looked at it as "how do I deal with those rivets" and should have just said "how do I avoid removing the door". Now that's creative...I'm not sure my teenagers would get off the couch for 10 bucks these days. Such is life.

    '85 C10 Door Removal

I do, and that's a good idea. I also have a door lift so could go that direction. Funny how I have the tools but hadn't thought about that approach yet.

    '85 C10 Door Removal

Ok, I thought this would be an easy search but I'm not seeing it. Truck is an '85 C10, with power windows and locks. The doors have the rubber "hose" wiring conduit from door to body. It looks like it's pop riveted in. The doors sag a little. I need to rebuild the door hinges, and would...

ESC need someone that knows more about ESC system than I do

Yeah. I actually think I got lucky with the truck in general. Despite being hacked up; the insides of the engine are pretty clean and things like egr are functional (but was not connected when I acquired the truck. As I said I think the po hated anything vacuum driven except brakes!). I’m lucky...

ESC need someone that knows more about ESC system than I do

Glad this thread is up. I’m dealing with a totally hacked up LE9 305. I suspect a prior owner thought everything related to vacuum switches and esc was “emissions”. What a waste. Mine still has the esc distributor but all wiring and vacuum lines were hacked up. I mean everything. Tip in, esc...

    '85 Scottsdale

Hi everyone. I'm based in South Carolina and recently picked up a rusty, crusty, but generally solid '85 C10 longbed (Scottsdale edition). The truck has a 305 with a 700r4 behind it. It's my first squarebody, but not my first older chevy. My son and I have rebuilt a '67 impala with a small...
