    Painless kit 90627 - wire 901

This is probably a long shot but thought I might ask here. I'm in the middle of a wiring harness, and not at the point where I can check with a test light or meter. This wiring kit has wore 901 labeled as "relay activation/ acc power (ign)" Does anybody know if this wire provides 12v during...

    New wiring harness difficulty

I'm in the same boat as you with my 77. I bought an entire Painless harness. It's time consuming, especially this time of year when it's too hot to work on it once the sun comes up. But it's not terrible. The Painless manual really comes in clutch. I'm maybe halfway done as of now. If you're...

For sure. The plan is to never have to mess with the wiring for the next 25 years. I want it to be done right and to last

    Wiring Harness journal

Thats actually the +12v supply coming from the fuel injection kit. I am using that instead of the Painless +12v because the Pro Flo 4 system had the capability to shut down the fuel pumps if RPMs go away, like in a rollover or something. It'll need to pass through the firewall and connect to...

    Wiring Harness journal

A few more days, a tiny bit of progress. I've decided the way to go is to take care of one wire per day and it's helped with the feeling of being overwhelmed and not motivated. I got the Edelbrock fuel pump relay kit mounted and wired into the main harness and spliced to the Pro Flo 4 ECU...

Lost my keys to 86 c10. Ignition Lock Cylinder, can I still remove it with no key???

Correct. You only need to remove a screw buried under the turn signal switch to remove the lock cylinder. Key is not needed for any of those steps

    Wiring Harness journal

Got a little more done this morning. I found a good place to mount my ProFlo 4 ECU that will work good. Got a little more wiring routed. Need to extend the power and ground for the PF4 to reach the battery, and then tuck them in the looming. Very slow going. Been having a hard time getting the...

    Wiring Harness journal

I got a bit of the front wiring routed and sleeved this morning. Will be running the rear harness later today when it cools down a bit

    Wiring Harness journal

After a two month delay due to completely rebuilding my steering column (twice) and replacing the steering shaft, I can finally continue with my wiring harness. I got the fuse block and the bulkhead both connected up and mounted today, and will be slowly wiring up as time and weather allow here...

    Anti theft devices

I am in the process of a complete re-wire of my truck. I'm going to be adding in a hidden kill switch for just this reason to kill power to the fuel pumps

    Broken shift tube?

Update on this - I got everything back together and it's working perfectly. Will it collapse the way it's supposed to if I rear end somebody? Hopefully. I don't know. Those six tack welds are pretty small. But the shifter works now. On to my wiring harness. Thanks for all the help, everyone

    Broken shift tube?

I was thinking something like that, but instead I just stopped by a local welder and had him tack it in place for me. I think it's going to work perfect. I'll keep updated

    Broken shift tube?

Just a quick addition - there are two of these keyed spots, 180 degrees apart from each other. When reinstalling, there's also a keyed slot on the shift lever housing that matches up to a key on the upper shift tube. It's possible if not paying attention to get that reinstalled 180 off. When...

    Broken shift tube?

I'm just posting this information in case anyone in the future has the same issue. I couldn't find much when I was googling. I got the column out and torn down again. On the bright side, I'm getting really freaking good at tearing and building these columns I tore it down all the way till the...

    Broken shift tube?

I don't know, maybe. I pulled the column again this morning - time to strip it completely down again :(

    Broken shift tube?

Assuming I don't care about that - do you think my idea above would work?

    Broken shift tube?

I'm thinking of disassembling everything to the point only the shift tube is installed - the steering shaft itself would be removed. Then measure length of the shift tube from inside, remove the shift tube and tap it to the correct length and then a few spots welds around the seam where the two...

    Broken shift tube?

I recently finished a complete rebuild of my 77 tilt column. See thread here for pictures https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/what-are-these-parts-called-and-where-can-i-find-them.39213/ During the reassembly, I had issues with the shift column collapsing on itself whenever I tried to tap it...

What are these parts called, and where can I find them?

Final post for this thread. Steering column is finally finished! I'm still missing the horn contact pin that went flying when I broke off the nipple on the last turn signal cam, but the cam itself has been replaced. The pin can be installed just by removing the steering wheel. New steering shaft...

What a $300 steering wheel looks like. $60 horn button pending

What are these parts called, and where can I find them?

New shaft installed. I broke the horn button stubout thing on the cancelling cam when I was putting the new wheel in place, so I'll have to buy a new one of those

What are these parts called, and where can I find them?

Got the shaft cut down to length and painted up today. Hopefully will have it installed, and the column all tightened back up, by end of week.

What are these parts called, and where can I find them?

I'll let you know after I drive it with the u-joint installed. But from what I've read, the steering will be a lot tighter. Mine was pretty sloppy because of that old ass rag joint. I needed to replace it regardless, and didnt want to go back in with a rag joint
