    you have the big block radiator and top radiator support for it ,your most of the way there. When i did mine i had to add blind nuts to the core support where the upper radiator support bolts down ,the holes were already there but no nuts. and the pads will probably need to be matched to the rad.

    Your top picture is what came in my 77 it was rated as a heavy duty cooling with a/c and it came with a 350. The bottom picture is what i would consider a big block radiator it is 2 inches taller. Yes cooling systems bigger is always better ,however I can't imagine you have a heating problem...

    the one in the pic is an original packard 56 connector, that's what all the original connectors are on the early squares. a generic autozone connector is close enough to fit with a little persuasion .

    If I read you right you are moving the axle from under the string to on top of it. If so yes keep the pads at the same angle. Unless the rear drive line as a double u joint/double cardan joint then things get a little more complicated

    I've used ospho with decent results. would recommend getting a spray bottle to apply it. I you keep it wet and use a wire brush it will remove some of the rust and help it penetrate deeper. my only complaint would be it leaves a white film.
