    10 to 12 Bolt Swap

Take a paint strainer with you, when you pop the cover off let the gear oil run through the strainer and look for metal. Listen for excessive backlash. If the ring gear has more than 1/64" movement before the pinion moves it will need adjustment (shimmed). Inspect the pinion teeth, If they look...

    Another NP203 Question

Sleeve, and IIRC 27 spline. I converted my 205 from standard 10 spline to mate with the th350. Also swapped out the front driveshaft flange output shaft to one from a F*rd 205 which is 32 spline, so I could run yoke output instead of flange (like the 203) and have a choice of whatever yoke I...

    Cam sounds?

I agree everything needs checked but read the reviews, sounds pretty stellar. I hate the branding on the ends of the heads though but I would run em.

    Cam sounds?

I'd like to get a pair of these, plenty of room for plenty of valve lift... https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-151124

    Another NP203 Question

Unlocking the front hubs in a non-converted 203 will allow the truck to roll away in park if on an incline. The rear portion of the tcase has a differential similar to what you find in an axle.

    Another NP203 Question

The easiest solution is find another 203 and replace it but they're all getting long in the tooth. If it's just an old rotten plow truck that would be the WTG. If you weren't a gazillion miles away I could help yall with the 205 conversion, I have some parts. I doubt a worn out front axle would...

    Another NP203 Question

IMO a 203 is only good as a doubler for a rock crawler stacked on a 205. Unless you're trying to keep the truck factory I would lose the 203 for a 205.

    I have a 208 in it but

The 205 is the stronger tcase but you may run into issues like driveshaft lengths, and I think the trans to tcase adapter is different. If your 205 is set up for rear slip yoke it may not be so bad.

    Squarebody Differentials.

I always thought they were 70s smog head 305s

    Squarebody Differentials.

I'll take your word for it. I would assume it would be C&C type applications, but GM also had 14 bolts designated for C&C

    Squarebody Differentials.

Usually winning contract is why. Or if vehicles are being produced for the government, it could be a requirement of the contract.

    Squarebody Differentials.

Ring gear size is the same, 10.5". Pinion diameter and axleshaft diameter (depending on year break) are the same or nearly the same. Both are full-floating. D70 doesn't have the pilot bearing on the pinion like the 14b ff which helps with pinion deflection. Axle tube diameter is the same. Not...

    Best mud tire?

I hate bias ply for a daily driver. Till they warm up the flat spots make you feel like you're riding a trampoline. Those Destination MTs are nice. I had a set of Bridgestone Dueler MTs years ago in 33x12.5 and they worked great too, similar tread pattern but I don't think they make them...

    Having problems with dual tanks

I've done the Blazer tank and it is quite involved. I know in the 90s GM was doing a recall on these trucks, basically doing the Blazer tank swap. I'd like to know how they addressed the filler neck part of the swap, if they just ran a long pipe with a couple 90 degree filler adapters or what...

Fuel gauge moves around while driving

Unbaffled tank, they started putting baffled tanks in em around, what, 85 or 87? Whenever it was they switched over to TBI. I think the Chinese float assemblies are more likely to react more extremely than say a Delco-Remy unit or something.

    350 to 400 small block

You are correct. And the exhaust valve lacks the 3 angle valve grind.

    350 to 400 small block

I was going to order a pair of these eventually, capable of up to 0.520" lift verses 0.460" for stock Vortecs... https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-151124 Also has bigger intake runners, stock is 165cc, these are 175cc

    350 to 400 small block

12558062. They'll have a "sawtooth" 3 points cast into the front of the head. They're referred to as "062's" and there are also "906's" which were the earlier Vortecs with a notch cast into the front of the heads. I've heard the 906's don't have the 3 angle valve grind from the factory and...

    Heads and cam swap time?

You can also use a continuity tester between #1 spark plug wire hole in the cap and the center contact for the coil. Set your balancer at around 12 degrees BTDC (or whatever your cam calls for) and make sure it's on compression stroke (exhaust valve closed on #1 cylinder) then turn the...

    Rear Diff Carrier

edit: looked at your page 1 posts, the difference in drive and coast pattern sometimes can't be corrected but if you can get it closer to the same you'll have less noise on deceleration. Adding pinion shim will make your current backlash tighter, or too tight. Before changing the pinion shim try...
