What you're describing is an aftermarket electric parking brake.

I have one on my truck because I wanted to eliminate the pedal and all the attached cable nonsense. Works great, I didn't install it for theft prevention but it certainly helps. I also have...
That's the same wheel I have in my truck. It's off the 1978 Camaro I bought for $400 as my transportation while building my truck (the first time) in high school in 1994. The steering wheel is the one thing I kept from the Camaro before it went to the crusher. I love that it's the same wheel my...
With Hagerty I insure a 1966 Porsche 912 with an agreed value of $50k. That costs me $350 a year. And my 1981 C10 is agreed at $40k (completely not stock), that costs me $585 a year. We all know repairing the Porsche would cost wayyyyy more, but this is what they came up with.
Because USA1 Industries is a criminal enterprise that takes your money up front, tells you it'll be 16 weeks, and a year and a half later you're still waiting. While LMC is a reasonably well-run operation that ships when they say they will.
USA1 has the best door panels by far. Unfortunately, they are a horribly run operation and as mentioned you will wait at least a year and a half to receive them (if you're lucky).
Looks great. Like I've said before, if you have the patience and can tolerate the criminal manner in which the company is run, you won't be disappointed with the quality of what you receive (if/when you do).
I think some people are getting confused with aluminum conducting electricity (yes, does so very well) with magnetism (nope not at all). Maybe because the whole positive/negative thing for both, I don't know.
@NickTransmissions Question for you. I have a 700R4 that is out of a 1989 Corvette. It is stock. What kind of HP/torque do you think it can safely handle? It looks like vettes that year were rated at 245HP and 340 lb/ft. The motor I have in front of mine is at about 360HP and 400lb/ft.
That is for sure. I bought a new Diehard battery at Advance Auto last night. Brought it home, and it was reading 10.5 volts. Left it on the charger all night. Then it read exactly 12. But I literally watched on the multimeter as the volts quickly dropped back to 11 after unplugging the charger...
Borgeson also sells the replacement steering shaft with the u-joints. Of course it isn't cheap, but I can attest that it is very high quality.
