What have you done to your square lately??

Got the gas tank in for the saddle tank delete. A little wiring in the rear and I can start placing the body on the frame.

Welcome... With the prices of new vehicles, especially trucks, I'd consider rebuilding and running something like this the same as an investment. Cheap, reliable transportation that will get you from here to there in the same amount of time as anything newer. And the money you saved will buy an...

Should this new guy buy this '85?

Yeah, I'd buy it just because of the 500 Caddy. The exhaust manifolds can be inverted and you could run stacks through the hood. And I'd put a spread bore Rochester on it with the linkage dialed in so you really have to stomp on it to engage the big secondaries. Never know when you'll need well...

Broken hearted kid and fuel system

A lot of people here are trying to help you... but you haven't answered a few pertinent questions. The first one being... when you say the truck runs, are you using a gravity feed direct to the carburetor, bypassing the fuel pump? OR... are you running gas from a remote source (a gas can?) and...

What have you done to your square lately??

For that kind of money you can go to a wrecking yard and get a set of good springs off a low milage truck.

    Engine identification

Okay, I think I have it. V=Flint, Michigan. 0430 is April, 30. TJC is a 1973 block casting and 160hp, used in 2WD C20/3500. But that doesn't match with the casting number on the back of the block which is 3970010... and the info on that casting number says it is a 350, used 1969 through 1979...

    Engine identification

Found it. Had to scape off some paint but it looks pretty clear. Thanks for your help. Is there a site that is best for checking the numbers to see what I have? It looks like I only have eight digits, V0430TJC. I thought there would be more...

    Engine identification

Resurrecting an old thread to get better information... I got the cast number off the left rear of the block, but I can't find any stamped number. Where would the stamped number be? Is it under an exhaust manifold? The cast number tells me the block is a 350, used between 1969 and 1979 and 185...

    K20 Wheel/Tire Confirmation

If I remember right any eight lug Chevy up thru 2004 (?) has rims that will fit any square body eight lug truck. I scored some aftermarket rims (and tires) that probably cost quite a bit more new than I paid for them. Takeoffs when a guy wanted something else. I'll need tires pretty soon after...

    Hello from Maine

I just replaced the front driveshaft on mine with a new one from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09DCRZT8Z/ There are different options so if you decide to go this route be careful and READ the DESCRIPTIONS carefully to be sure you order the right one.

Hey everybody I'm Anthony an auto tech from Tucson Arizona. I look forward to getting involved with this discussion forum.

Before you get started, buy a Chilton or Haynes manual for squarebody trucks.

    Gravity feed after the pump?

If you are sure that the lines are clear and the pump is not sending fuel... it is likely that the cam shaft lobe is worn out. You can try a new shaft, or plumb in an electric pump.

RV cam and headers are the most bang for the buck. Sounds like you have everything else covered, IMO.

I just realized where I've seen your truck... Yeah, I know it's not the right year or grill... but still.
