Superduty Dana 60 into 86 2wd squarebody chevy

The early Ford D60's are a direct bolt in to 4wd squares so if you install factory style brackets on your 2wd frame the axle should bolt in.

    Rock slider attachments

Fwiw, I have sliders from diy4x. My sliders are set level so they can be used as a step, I’m about 275 and have had no issues with them being attached to the body mounts. Mine is strictly a play toy, not a daily driver.

    wiring msd ignition

Just to say it…. MSD likes a clean signal so try to find an unused circuit. If you piggyback something in use it MAY cause interference and drivability issues.

    wiring msd ignition

My 91 Blazer had some unused spots towards the upper right corner of the fuse block that were open, I tapped one for my fuel pump relay.

C10 LIMITED SLIP VS LOCKER VS SPOOL

It wasn't bad. With the clutch in (no power to the rear) and turning I could hear the locker ratcheting the same as you can if you put it on jack stands and spin 1 tire. Occasionally while driving I would get a loud metallic PING and feel the rear shake as the locker locked back up (for...

What have you done to your square lately??

Last Saturday I drove mine 140 miles (round trip) to a square body cruise in / swap meet. Had a great time, saw lots of nice trucks and I’m proud to say the Blazer was flawless all day.

C10 LIMITED SLIP VS LOCKER VS SPOOL

Stock 10 and 12 bolt axles use C clips to retain the axles so that may limited what is available for you (without getting in to C clip eliminators, etc). Be careful not to overestimate the strength of a stock carrier should you choose a drop in locker. I've got a spool in the rear of my Blazer...

Were plain grilles ever offered stock?

Factory grills always had an emblem, aftermarket grills usually don’t because of trademark protections.

What new tools have you got lately?

Oh yeah, I don’t blame you. No such thing as too many tools. lol Seriously, that hard handle set with the ratchet screwdriver is a rare set and worth a lot. I would not let that go.

    Under-pad replacement suggestions?

I’m pretty sure that padding is called “jute”, a local upholstery shop will probably have it. When I worked at a dealer we would buy it by the foot for flood repair cars.

    Top Radiator Clamps

Since @85K304SPD mentioned it, the true wide diesel radiator uses the individual brackets with a plastic cover spanning the gap between them. The 1 pc top plate does not fit the extra wide diesel radiator, the unused wider bolt pattern holes can be seen in the pic in post #2.

Are locking hubs factory or personal add on?

The blue dials are from 72 and older Chevys. I don’t believe Dodge ever used Spicers in their 72+ trucks. The bigger bulky hubs were on 3/4 ton Chevy and Fords, again no Dodges.

Are locking hubs factory or personal add on?

Around 81-82 GM started using an unmarked Warn hub. @Nasty-LSX it depends on how you’ll use it really. If you’re not going to beat on it hard a set of Warn hubs will be fine. If it’s going to be wheeled or beat on hard I’d suggest Yukon Hardcore hubs or used Spicers.

Are locking hubs factory or personal add on?

It should be a 208 tcase. The 241 was 89-91(iirc) and the 205 was only in 1 tons for 81+. As far as manual vs auto locking hubs, for 81+ (all series) the manuals were base and auto locking hubs were an option. Conversely, my understanding is that for most (if not all) 73-79 full time (which...

What have you done to your square lately??

I finally wrapped up a few loose ends (nothing exotic) and pulled the Blazer out for a bath and drove it some. New bracket for my p/s fluid reservoir Mounted a few more things in the cargo area, I now have a tool box, storage box (straps, shackles, etc), ice chest, CO2 tank and water jug...

Factory power steering cooler? 1991 Suburba

Good point, both of the Subs that I saw with the coolers were (light duty) 3/4 tons.

Factory power steering cooler? 1991 Suburba

Yes, it's factory. I've seen them on 90 and 91 Suburbans (both had vacuum brakes) and my old 91 crew cab had one (hydroboost). Oddly, my 91 Blazer (originally loaded) does not have one.

What new tools have you got lately?

I bought one of those last summer for diagnosing a headlight problem that had me baffled, the PP made short work of finding the problem. The ability to put power to a circuit at any point was the most helpful feature.
