Whip antenna for CB on a Suburban

Dad had a 23 channel CB in the 75 Sierra Classic, mounted under the dash over the transmission hump. Don't remember what kind of antenna other than he made a mount for it in the front left corner of the bed. When we got the 78 Sierra shop truck set up, he had something similar on it. We'd use...

    Finally got a running 65 C10

Should be a 14mm; I would think there is a special made tap/thread chaser for that. Do you have a well stocked parts store near you?

Leaking power steering fluid from Hydra boost unit.

Sounds like you should change the master cylinder and the hydro boost unit. I helped Dad replace the vacuum booster on our '90 R2500 Burb, was a good bit of work but it's easier to do with two people (one in the cab and one under the hood). When the hydro boost unit went out on my OBS Crew Cab...

Scores from DIY Parts Yards, Pull A Part, U Pull It etc

Do you know if anybody is reproducing the rubber rings that go around the pivoting map lights? Every console or dome/map light set I've seen has issues there...I mean they are 30+ years old by now right?

A Technical Comedy [Only After the Fact]

That's why I always have a spare set of keys in my pocket, besides the big ring on my belt .... been locked out too many times.

What have you done to your square lately??

I think they actually made them both ways. One I have is Cal Custom and it's probably from the 70s. It's going on an old truck I have (older than squares and definitely won't be stock when I'm done with it).

What have you done to your square lately??

Looks great! Did this air cleaner top have a drilled through hole? I have one we found at a swap meet decades ago that has a threaded hole for the carb stud. Of course you still have to trim the stud to fit....

    Reinforcing Door Striker

Dad made several of the "homemade" striker bushings, after we used up all the GM NORS ones we had from Curtis. They sold body hardware too, besides keys and locks. He also found a stick of Teflon rod at the plastic supply company, and made some out of that. I'll have to look in the cabinet he...

    Reinforcing Door Striker

It's behind the trim piece on the pillar inside; there is a hole in the pillar to reach your fingers into. The striker bolt threads into a steel block, and this block is what you'll be holding in place with your fingers. There is a size of plastic pipe that fits over the striker, I don't...

1984 Winnebago Elandan 31ft Class A Motorhome w/ Chevy 454 Big Block 7.4L Engine Owner in need of engine part identification/emissions hose help.

Two main things we've noticed around town in traffic: idiots driving with no lights on in the evening or night, mostly in dark cars; and people driving badly damaged cars with missing or non functional lighting. The latter I can ALMOST understand as we had to wait four months to get my Burb into...

Yup! As of the first of this year, no safety inspection on any vehicle older than 24 either.

Yup I see a few things I can use here....

    Suburban frame interchange

Bigger difference is between 2wd and 4wd....big block, diesel and small block power have some difference in the cross member and motor mounts IIRC. Auto trans vs. manual transmission may also have a different cross member and mount. I want to say that a 3/4 ton Burb will have a little bit...

K5 almost killed me brakes to the floor

Probably a bad wheel cylinder, had to get them replaced on my Crew Cab last fall. I could have done it but not in the timeframe we had before a gig, so I paid a shop to fix it while I was at work.

    Interior paint scheme

That's how I remember it on Dad's 75 Sierra Classic. Willoway Green (mint green) with white top and in the side trim, but the inside was green where the darker green plastic didn't cover. Same on the Burbs which were all two tones, the primary color was the interior metal color too. The shop...

Welcome from Houston, Texas! Is this big beauty RHD or LHD? I know the newer vehicles in Oz have to be RHD but not sure if the older rigs have to be converted?

Old school garage door opener remote

This is what we have for the entrance gate at the RV park. They rent them to long-term residents; makes it nice to just push a button instead of getting out to do the code when it's bad weather. The GMT 400 console uses mini LEGO style blocks to set the level for your garage door opener. These...

86 Suburban 2nd row shouldber belts

Yes those should have a plastic cover over them. The factory belts would have had one. I remember what these looked like since I had to remove them a few times on the '84 and '90 Burbs, both with blue interior. Coins get dropped into the cover when you are trying to get change out for the toll...

    Mar-K Truck Toolbox for Stepside

I like it too....but a good fabricator could build a box with a truck tailgate for that $$$. I'm not a good fabricator but neither am I rich LoL.

    Bvllsh!t on craigslist.

I'd love to have those wheels but $10.5K is a wee bit outta my price range. I mean, you get the rest of the truck too, but last thing I need is another damn project....
