Did ALL 1977's get yellow painted side trim?

I wanted a 77. Got one. But they’re not worth more and you can’t get cheap replacement trim with a yellow stripe!

    Booster shocks?

Yes of course coil over shocks will increase spring rate and increase ride height. First they are not struts. Struts provide load capacity in the gas/hydraulic portion. Second, “a few inches” is either unrealistic or going to be extremely uncomfortable. But mostly, shock mounts are not...

Goddammit That’s why the insurance on my garage queen is so expensive! People can’t drive a car that can boil the rear tires at high speed if you try!

    Rust coating for fill neck

There are many coatings advertised to seal the inside of gas tanks. Any of those would work fine, considering the filler neck only sees occasional soaking with gasoline. Epoxy primer or any quality urethane 2k paint is also quite solvent proof. Or replace the filler if you can’t get the rust...

Am I Crazy? Lincoln Drive Train Swap

Dude, nobody wants a greasy 192hp when it left the factory big block. No one even considers the above mentioned swap that requires major work and the resulting embarrassment and inability to open the hood around anyone but electricians and Ford guys!

The world has too many Torq Thrusts… seriously. Delrays look sweet! I love my wheels but I’ll trade you straight across for them Delrays! I’ll even pay shipping!

    Drip rail gaps

You may need to bend the mounting face back a bit at the screw locations. Otherwise, ifn it’ll flex at all, the 3M tape should set it with no gaps. Idk I thought I’d need to do that on the 86 but they snugged back up nice with just the old tape or gasket still stuck to the drip rails.

Ya, lol. I just automatically assume any used car at any dealer is not going to be a good deal. I only look private party for used. Except that one time, wife saw a shiny red Ram 1500 on a used car lot. Stopped to check it out for giggles. Typical salesman but he was just going nuts over the...

Ya I dont think I’ve ever seen a 2wd Denali anything, the standard Hoes, Yukon’s and Burbs of that era have a true 4 position transfer case and auto 4wd. Not sure if the Denalis got the same t case or just full time AWD only.

Seems high. But some folks think (and maybe some folks buy) that a 20 year old high miles 3/4 ragged out vehicle is somehow worth considerably more if it’s a higher end trim model just because it was more $ when new or newer. I don’t, as higher trim models, just like any other vehicle as they...

These were both nice ones. The Durango was awesome except for gas mileage. Got worse than the Hoe, lol.

Also car prices (and anything with wheels and/or an engine really) have been dropping from the stupid Covid prices that peaked in 21-22. New old inventory has been increasing for the last couple years.

Idk where you live, guessing Cali? But I believe that $10k won’t get you something that clean/low miles. Even up here in the land of clean old cars. A year ago I got $4k for a ragged out, crashed but drove straight (frame bent) Tahoe with 150k. Got $8k for a real clean gmt 800 Tahoe with 130k...

    Rear Brakes Locking Up

It’s unfortunate you’re providing very complete, coherent and fairly knowledgeable input to try to solve your issue and there are a couple select folks responding in some weird accusatory and somewhat off topic or off base manor. Oh well, that’s the internet…. From the info you provided, there...

I don’t really love SUVs at all, but that or a Duraburb, same configuration, would be the one for sure. Still waiting for one of the big 3 (not Chrysler lol since they haven’t had a true full size suv since the Ramcharger) to pop out a HD suv again. While I understand the small market share...

Beautiful clean low miles snack wagon, but I want some of what that guy is smoking! It’s worth close to double what the KBB upper end value is, but… Maybe, just maybe if it was a super low miles 2500 8.1 4x4 with a quality lift kit and $5k stashed in the spare tire cubby it would be worth $20k...

3 words. Car Wash Brush Screw that hand washing especially the part you can’t see. I ain’t got the time to use 3 buckets and 2 kinds of sponges. Big ole car wash brush takes care of it. Can even do the roof on the bro dozer and the K20 standing flat footed on the driveway! Occasionally...

    Brake Fluid Flush GMT800

^What he said. I’ve become a big fan of the lazy man’s fluid flush on brakes and power steering. And sometimes differentials if no drain plug and no real reason to open up the differential cover. If you run the numbers and don’t mind “wasting” fluid at the expense of ease and time, you’ll find...

86 C20 - Climate control not changing position - cable or vacuum operated?

Yup. That goes to one of the vac ports on the hvac box. If you take off the glove box door and remove the glove box most of them are pretty easily accessible. Removing and reinstalling the whole thing under the dash is one of those cuss for 2-3 hours the first time and much easier when repeated.

    Gas spilling when filling up

@texdave It’s gotta be one to the fuel pump, one return, one vent.

    Gas spilling when filling up

There should be evidence of staining from the gas leaking each time. Although really hard to pinpoint while filling up. Or see up in there. The sender looks new(er) in that picture though. Is the return hooked up? How many ports on your fuel pump? Not really pertinent to the leak but possible...
