What have you done to your square lately??

That’s what I was suggesting to @JamesSam. Seems like he’s going to hang on to the truck, so it’s worth it imo, especially since he has fuel issues and is sort of addressing them 1 thing at a time.

    Am I missing a bolt??

Wow! Look at those AIR lines!! Last time I saw them things was when I was removing and disposing of them on my dads 85 Chevy in 1992! God bless California! lol

What have you done to your square lately??

So answered my own question with google I think. There is NOT a Schrader valve on the TBI system for fuel pressure testing. Is this correct? Also since it’s low pressure, cobbling in a tee is pretty safe. Although long term and considering you’re unsure of and fiddling with both tanks and pumps...

What have you done to your square lately??

O rings work great for tightening up the vent rotation as well.

What have you done to your square lately??

I don’t. And per my previous post it’s been a long time since I’ve laid eyes on a TBI. Is there no Schrader valve to connect to?

What have you done to your square lately??

To @bucket reasoning, I haven’t run a TBI Chevy for almost 30 years and never lost a fuel pump in any TBI I had or in the fleet. But post TBI era I’ve experienced several high pressure gas fuel pump failures. Vehicle and boats. Mostly GM. And the common theme was they all failed suddenly and...

Help me Tom Cruise.. Fuel or Spark Issue??

Honestly sounds like it could be a vacuum leak.

Help me Tom Cruise.. Fuel or Spark Issue??

Doubt it. Never seen a mechanical pump push too much pressure. But back to diagnosis. You have to figure out whether it’s fuel (too much or none) or spark…or compression. No time to write a book atm but you’ll get plenty of suggestions here shortly.

What have you done to your square lately??

I was under the gun and didn’t have time to screw anything up when I painted. And I’m far from a pro or proficient so I canned that idea. Check out that Patriot blue Dodge color though. I think it’s a premade solution. I had a little left from repainting a truck about 20 years ago and used a...

What have you done to your square lately??

That’ll look great metallic pearl!!! No, mine (my sons I suppose) is 21 light blue metallic primary color. And straight 29 Dark blue. I went back n forth with the dark blue. Almost ordered some metallic powder to mix in or was going to use a Chrysler color Patriot blue pearl. I lucked out with...

What have you done to your square lately??

If @bucket thinks it’s your pump (on the good side) I wonder why. And @Redfish recalled both your pumps are new(er). Seems like you’re throwing parts before diagnosing both tanks/pumps etc. or is the other tank leaking anyway and has to come down regardless? fuel pressure. Is easy test. Non...

What have you done to your square lately??

Hahaha yeah @Redfish got a little wired at the misunderstanding. To your point, yes if one cannot tackle a lot of stuff on their own, old vehicles get very expensive. You’re on the right track. Always hard to judge what someone’s proficiency or resources are. Things I take for granted like a...

    Mystery hole on fenders

So the trucks up to ‘84 at least, had extra holes in the fenders under the trim? But if they were base model no trim they didn’t? Seems like an odd anomaly but I’m not familiar with nuances that minor. I know the 86 I have doesn’t have holes.

    Exhaust Question

Not enough power to flex the sound of 40s imo. Will just still be slow and sound like the exhaust fell off. I believe cars shouldn’t be any louder than they are fast or powerful. A loud ass fart can on a 4cyl Hyundai is an example of what not to do imo.

    Exhaust Question

$30 vs $300-1000+ for new dual system. Which one fits your wallet and usage of the truck? That is the deciding factor. It’ll sound better with nice duals. It will not be any faster or have more power. Being anemic on power is another discussion.

What have you done to your square lately??

You’re not getting it cut with a tubing cutter. No room to spin the cutter around it. If you actually want to remove and save it, keep chopping u bolts at exhaust mounts until you can get the exhaust system to slide backwards a bit. Then do like the last person did, pry up the already hacked...

    Mystery hole on fenders

Keith did some 80s years have metal belt line trim? @PrairieDrifter, appears factory if yours has it too, but it’s an 84 correct? I thought all 81-up belt line trim was adhesive. Another nuance I was unaware of. Good news is new trim will cover up the holes on the OPs truck. Bad news if he...

I wouldn’t bother saving the cat if it were me. It’s obviously not original and may be fine, but whatever. Just replace it with a straight pipe. Win win. Don’t let the little stuff get in the way of progress!

    Adapting a flatbed to a 1981 gmc 3500 / k30

The answer is generally yes it’s not too difficult to adapt a flatbed to fit on a particular frame. But based on your question, have to understand, if you get a flatbed with wheel well arches, they need to be in the right spot. Or if you get one that is for a pickup truck which doesn’t have...

What have you done to your square lately??

Ground for the sender is attached to the frame or crossmember right close to the sender. You can see it. Personally for coating the tank I wouldn’t use anything that comes out of a spray can. But that’s just me. Although that stuff looks like it would be good over a good coat of paint. Again...
