Best header back exhaust package for a 1985 K10 short bed

Yeah, I hear ya. Definetly would be the easy button. I figure, if I am doing all the work of swapping a TBI motor into it by myself, I might as well keep the whole job DIY for bragging rights. That truck hasn’t been to a mechanic in over 25 years. Except for the paint, there is only one guy who...

Best header back exhaust package for a 1985 K10 short bed

Evening fellas! I am lining up my winter project and planning to swap the Jasper motor out of my shortbed for a Blue Print 340hp TBI turnkey. I am looking for recommendations on a header-back exhaust system with side vent pipes. Plenty of stuff out there for long beds, just not seeing what I...

Wanting Led upgrade throughout while keeping stock look... Recommendations?

I switched all four corners of my 85 over. I used the LMC after market fender lights, they work better than other options. One thing that you have to know since you are replacing your marker and brake/blinker bulb, know that all bulbs are not made the same. The problem that I found is that most...

    wiring issues

Trying to think where a fuel gauge would cross with the headlights, and the only thing that comes to mind is the printed circuit behind the gauge cluster. Start there, any thing shorting should be fairly obvious. The previous owner may have added that rat nest to bypass an existing problem...

Help finding a short, Who's good at ELECTRICAL???

I know you said this truck is stock and unhacked, but what’s the story of this box?? Is that a snow plow relay or something? Looks like maybe something after market. Also, I assume this is a single battery set up, but if it’s not, are both batteries good?? One bad battery will ruin both of...

    Front bumper opinion on position

That would drive me nuts. I think one of the bumper supports are out of wack. If you are going to go through the trouble of taking the bumper off to open up the holes on the bumper supports, just put a set of new bumper mounts on it in stead. I bet when you take the bumper off, the mounts are...

    Pass power window

This kits come with an up and a down relay for each side (4). I wired that kit also. Mine came with a bad relay and the window was stuck up. If it is up and won’t go down, or vice versa, swap the relays and see if it works. They plug in and out of the harness so they are easy to replace.

    Dome light went cross-eyed.

Well done! LMC does sell an LED upgrade cabin light, but if you go for it know, it is not plug and play. You are going to have to cut the roof to make it fit. Also, found out this weekend the dome light is on the fuse for the horn. The light under the dash is a separate circuit on the courtesy...

    No dash lights!!

Pull the LEDs out and start with incandescent bulbs. LED bulbs do not operate on two separate circuits (one for marker and one for blinker). They operate on one circuit with high and low settings which means an LED bulbs will cross your marking and blinker circuits at the socket across the...

Dash blinker lights glow when the marker lights are on.

I think you are onto it jgonick. In looking at some tech specs on LED bulbs, they do not operate with two separate circuits (a dim and a bright). They operate with on one circuit with two power modes (low and high) using the same LEDs so the markers are likely crossing with the blinker lights...

Dash blinker lights glow when the marker lights are on.

So, let me start off by saying I did this to my self by installing a Vintage USA dash in my 1985 K10 Silverado shortbed during a full restoration. Mistake, nothing but problems. This is NOT a plug and play upgrade. Expect to spend countless hours with whatever wiring diagram you can find on...

How would you make this truck less ugly??

Option A- win the lottery Option B- add more rust to it and put a 600 hours 454 under the hood. It will be a panty dropper. Don’t kid yourself into thinking you can touching one bolt on that body without without it turning into a disaster. All you are going to do is snap heads or strip...

Factory 3 point seat belt harness.

If you reupholstered the interior, don’t be a victim of the “plush monster”. There is a pendulum it the seatbelt ratchet system that needs to move freely. When inertia moves it forward, it locks up the ratchet for safety. New carpet will also encroach on the weak plastic casing and bind the...

    Trailer Wiring Adapter

I started with the adapter bought but bought this guy, ran an extra hot, and a break wire, tapped the reverse lights and updated the whole truck to a 7/4/5 pin. https://a.co/d/dgRajjx

Problematic Starting - rotate crank before starter engages?

Check your timing. If it is to far out the starter will bind and not turn over. It will actually lock up the motor until you spin it by hand to let the starter work. Makes the starter sound like a train wreck too

1985 K5 keeps breaking starters, help!

Definetly check the timing, sounds like a to advanced problem. Also make sure you are using a timing chain cover with the correct markings on it. If your motor is a Frankenstein, you may be looking at the wrong timing chain cover, or looking at the wrong balancer especially if you used parts...
