Driveshaft backing out of the tranny?

Your good.I rate this job beginner level. Block your tires or emergency brake! Mark your driveshaft @ rearend and take it loose.Pull out of slip yoke and set aside. Use a seal puller or long screwdriver and pry out that seal.Put the new one in with a tad of grease on the rubber lip of the...

rebult 3/4 ton axles and blew both front and rear first time out hot rodding

It takes real shit to hurt a 14 bolt full float, unless it has the gov lock or installation error on internals.I didn’t torque ring gear bolts on a 14 bolt after a no spin locker install.Used a 1/2 ratchet and no thread locker. Luckily,I ran it for awhile and went to change the oil.Every single...

Headers? worth the effort & cost?

Definitely on the right track.Headers are worth it,if you do quality. used a set of cheap afterburner headers on first truck. It was a pain, constantly replacing the gaskets because of thin flanges. Later in life and able to afford quality...hooker headers has been trouble free

1987 V30 Rear Brake drum to disk conversion

I didn’t use a proportioning valve. That was the whole purpose of the combination PV4 valve from summit. The oem combo valve is for front disks, rear drums. The above mentioned aftermarket valve is for a disk and disk set up,as well as the master cylinder from a corvette. The corvette was the...

Am I Cursed by the Carburetor Gods? Or do I just suck with Carburetors?

This is HEI Ingintion?Module? I know that a new battery completely changed my truck’s performance.Even though I was show 12 volts at the distributor, when tested, the alternator was constantly putting a huge effort to the battery. Probably what killed my module. It was a slow death, then finally...

Am I Cursed by the Carburetor Gods? Or do I just suck with Carburetors?

Adding new battery cables and terminals

This is along the same route I went.I used welding cable instead of the store bought.Way heavier and much better quality, and you can make them however long you want! I used red shrink wrap on positive cable to mark it

DIY Junkyard Wiper Motor and Intermittent Module Retrofit/Upgrade

I’m interested as well. Not a huge fan of the squarebody wiper motor/washer assembly. I just replaced mine and the new motor (remanufactured) isn’t as strong as the old one (original),but the washer pump works now. It’s a real pain to pull all the linkage out and lubricate it. Good luck

    Front and Rear Axle Install

I went thru this same exact thing, but unfortunately, both front and rear axles had ring gears that had pitting. There’s probably a lot of people who would of went with it.Not me.I just did a full overhaul and replaced all bearings and seals,brakes,ect.... Budget and time was biggest factors.And...

    troubleshooting no AC blower fan

It should be relatively easy to narrow down your problem. The fan motor has 2 wires coming off the fuse block to it.Check your voltage at the fan with the switch on,see if you’ve got power. If so,the motor is bad,if not, check and see if you have power to the switch....

1987 V30 Rear Brake drum to disk conversion

I did my rear disc conversion a couple months ago.Redid the whole brake system. I had to bleed the brakes twice.(pain in the ass by yourself) Rock Auto-Went with 1980 corvette master cylinder, rubber lines to front discs, rotors, and calipers. Summit-pV4 combo valve.Made in USA. ORD-14 bolt...

    Front and Rear Axle Install

A ton of people overlook the vent line off the pumpkin.Make sure it’s clear and flows. Also, the check valve or some kind of filter at the end of the hose. I’ve seen 14 bolts off vans and older trucks with the check valve installed right on the axle instead of hose used to route it up high and...

    Lmc Seats

Anyone here recently purchased seats from LMC? Pics? Worth the $$$? Quality? I was looking at options for seating in my 84’ p/u.Thought about finding capt chairs from a square, but not many people went with the option.Plus,if found, would have to be redone.Suburban seats would be modifying my...

V Belt Suggestions - Fan spacing, pulley sizing, belt routing

It will bolt up....I just don’t remember it being anything different than a 350. I am currently using a fan clutch off a big block with HD cooling on my 383.

When I mocked up my accessories and belts,I remember even if there was to much paint on one piece it threw off the belt alignment slightly.

V Belt Suggestions - Fan spacing, pulley sizing, belt routing

I would use anything off an olds diesel. The only thing I remember about the one I had was the many times I had to start a camp fire under that engine to get it started.(cold) Almost burned it down a couple times! The mount was the same I thought,4 bolts.I don’t remember that fan clutch being HD...

V Belt Suggestions - Fan spacing, pulley sizing, belt routing

I had issues with the belts on my small lock as well. Some of the spacers are different lengths, brackets slight different. Ended up just making sure that all the brackets and spacers came from one engine on my rebuild.
