    1984 K5 Blazer Idling Rich-California Emissions-Coolant Sensor?

more... I'm also putting on spring shims to correct the pinion angle. No idea why the axle was at such an extreme angle from the drive shaft, this truck is dead dead dead stock. A little closer look revealed that RockAuto does sell the correct single wire plug, TX1

    1984 K5 Blazer Idling Rich-California Emissions-Coolant Sensor?

Here's the sensor next to the tstat. Does RockAuto sell this sensor? They have a Bosch oxygen sensor for $15, I'll definitely get one of those, but the sensor looks like it has a two wire plug, but it could just be a stock image

    1984 K5 Blazer Idling Rich-California Emissions-Coolant Sensor?

I'm in my shop now, 9:40 at night, and the valve on the carburetor is not making a sound, and I'm pretty sure it was when I bought the truck and started driving it east, and I'm pretty sure because it's the only vehicle I have that has a electronic carburetor. And I jiggled the wires and...

    1984 K5 Blazer Idling Rich-California Emissions-Coolant Sensor?

Hi GMC Jimmy. Way back in the early 90s I was running a small full service auto repair shop, but when things were becoming fuel injected I luckily got into real estate and the car business fell by the wayside. Lucky for me, because all I know but it fuel injection is that little solenoid that...

    1984 K5 Blazer Idling Rich-California Emissions-Coolant Sensor?

I drove a 1984 K5 Blazer back from California this past May, and the last few hundred miles the engine started idling very rich. It's got an oxygen sensor on the driver's bank, the electronically controlled carburetor, but what looks like a stock HEI distributor. A friend of mine mentioned that...

    The Heater Relay-I Don't Know How It Works-Or Doesn't

Yeah, pretty interesting that one does hi speed, the other resisted speeds. I didn't go to my shop yesterday, I had other things to do around town, but I'll be going there today and I'll try to remember to look for a relay. I'll also have to print the wiring diagram as I look at it on my device...

    The Heater Relay-I Don't Know How It Works-Or Doesn't

Are you using regular relays or replacement blower motor relays? It could be possible the selector lever has gone out. I put in an exact replacement relay, and I got 3 intermediate or "resistor" speeds, but no "hi". The original only gave me hi speed. So logic would indicate the relays are...

    The Heater Relay-I Don't Know How It Works-Or Doesn't

I think I have a 10% better understanding, I'll poke around tomorrow, I'll pop open the relay cover and see what it looks like inside. I'm sure I have a few more relays somewhere

    The Heater Relay-I Don't Know How It Works-Or Doesn't

In my 45 years of repairing GM vehicles, I never understood how the heater fan relay works. So today I have to repair a 1984 K5, and the heater was only working on high-speed. So I took the resistor out of the plenum, polished up the contacts and put it back together, same. Then I changed the...

    1984 K5 Windshield Wiper Switch-Only Works On Lo-Bad Switch?

I'm getting my 1984 K5 Blazer ready to sell, and the wipers only work on low speed. I understand that the switch is somewhere in the steering column. But in all my years and all my squarebodys, I've never had to change one. I don't think it's the motor, is that possibly the problem? And of...

Ignition Lock Cylinder And Matched Door Locks Rear Window Cylinder

I bought a 1984 K5 Blazer in the spring, and it didn't come with any keys. EBay and RockAuto sell a new ignition switch, but does anybody sell the door locks and tailgate switch all together, save on shipping and maybe a few dollars buying the whole set ?

14B FF Inner Bearing C Clip Plier Recomendation

I was able to remove the c-clip and the bearing was fine, but it took a long nose pair of cheap Chinese pliers and I can't believe they didn't break off, and two good USA heavy duty screwdrivers, and a Japanese lug wrench that I bent the tip over 90° with an oxy acetylene torch. That's C clip is...

14B FF Inner Bearing C Clip Plier Recomendation

There's two lock Rings, one holds the Locking nut and that's a piece of cake with a small screwdriver. But to remove the outer bearing from The Hub, you got this giant deep-set c-clip, and I don't think needle-nose will work, the tips need to be square when the jobs are open

14B FF Inner Bearing C Clip Plier Recomendation

I just bought a 1993 regular cab 2 wheel drive 6.5 turbo diesel with a 14-bolt full floater. Because the truck has been sitting for many years the left rear brake was seized to the shoes, so I took it apart and I decided once I had the axles removed I might as well check the bearings. The...

    “Barn” find 57 Chevy revival

By the way, tell us more about this 57. And the 327 was quite the hot rod motor of the day, I had a 283, with three two barrels, and boy could that baby scream, but it was still a tiny 283 in a '67 Parisienne convert...

    “Barn” find 57 Chevy revival

What's interesting about 1957, is that if you wanted a Chevy, you got a full size car. You could have had a two-door or four-door,station wagon, Nomad, sedan or hardtop. The only other option was a Corvette or a pickup or a dump truck. It wasn't until 1960 that Chevrolet introduced the Corvair...

    Rpo G86 locking differential

I've never seen G86. I just had to pull my mower out of a swamp, and I knew my 84 Blazer had posi, is it G80? Anyhow it spun both tires right off the bat, on slimy grass. I'll post pictures of the sticker and my torn up lawn

    Dash cluster light issue

Look how nice and uncluttered your fuse box is. When I bought my 1984 Suburban in California 10 years ago, not one single light bulb illuminated. And when I just bought my 1984 K5 Blazer in San Francisco, again not one single dashboard lamp was working, except the heater control. So when I...

Rustiest Radiator Thick Slimy RUST... How To Clean???

Fuel mileage ? 15 once. More like 12-13 @ 60-65-70, lite footing it. My 6.2 always get 15+, but never hit 20 like so many folks claim

Rustiest Radiator Thick Slimy RUST... How To Clean???

The radiator is a newer copper brass, the coolant was prolly just plain tap water, I don't think it was an issue of mixed coolant types. Scotty Kilmer has a good primer on the different types of coolant, worth watching on ytube. Maybe I'll watch this... I can't find the Scotty video...
