    When I build one of the newer carbs, I take the idle screws out and cut a line across them that a small flat blade screwdriver will fit. That makes it a little easier than trying to use the tool. You might not be able to get it at the right angle.

    Your air/idle mixture screws should be set at the point you have the highest vacuum reading, or highest file tom. Then set your idle screw for proper idle rpm. I usually start at 1.5 turns out and go from there. Adjust one side at a time. Glad you found you problem with the battery.

    If it is just clicking, and your cables are connected good, then it sounds like your starter solenoid is bad. No relation to the carb being cleaned. Btw, I wouldn't soak any carb solenoid in fluid. They aren't designed for that.

    Could have got some junk inside the carb though, restricting fuel flow. Did you pull the new pump and look at the arm? Make sure you get it under the actuator.

    It sounds possible that you are running out of fuel. What did you set your float level at? Could have got some junk in the fuel line when you changed the pump. Double check you lines for crimps, check fuel filters, check float level and needle/seat for junk blocking.

    Does sound like the float is a little high. Pull it and set at 5/16" and you should be ok.

    Are you running a quadrajet? First thing to check for would be vacuum leaks. Make sure you have good seal to intake and didn't leave any vacuum lines disconnected.

    I changed my cars up so they only have one wire at the starter, and I use a remote solenoid. Alternator feeds a junction block on the firewall. From there, it goes to battery and the main line to fuse block also connects. There are some options, so somebody may have done something like that.
