My Rear End Build For My Low Buck Street/Race Truck

This truck with 3.07 gears has been raced many times, always driven to the track (17000) miles over 3 years. Every pass I've ever made with this truck was run over 7000 RPM through the lights in second gear.

My Rear End Build For My Low Buck Street/Race Truck

A 4.30 gear would put me through @ 5551 RPM, my engine makes peak HP @ 6600 and carries it to 7000 RPM.

My Rear End Build For My Low Buck Street/Race Truck

This one runs 5.38s and peak HP is made @ 6300 RPM, 11.90s -12.20s NHRA stock 1985 350, and that means stock intake, Q-Jet, dished pistons, 624 smog heads, .398 lift cam. My 327 peaks @ 6600 RPM and carries it to 7000 RPM. The math says 103 MPH with a 5.13 gear and a 29.50 tire says 6800 RPM...

My Rear End Build For My Low Buck Street/Race Truck

I've posted on here before about my 79 C-10 long bed with a 3.07 open rear end. Running a best of 13.50 @ high altitude tracks, now its time to turn it up. Locally the last time I had the truck out I had a wheel spin problem actually because they don't want to prep the track, and with the open...

Who makes a 5.13 gear that will go on my 12 bolt truck 3 (3.73) series open carrier? Thanks.

    1979 C-10

Thanks. The truck has a open 3.07 gear, I haven't changed it yet because I want to tune as much out of it as I can, plus I drive it a lot. My next move is re drilling the rotors for car rims and tires, then maybe a aluminum drive shaft.

How to put 1992 Camaro disc rotors on a 1979 C10

For anyone out there thats ever wanted to drag race a C10 and get rid of some of the ridiculous rotating weight up front, and get light weight front wheels with a real drag race front tire on there, this for you. A mid 80s C-10 spindles are used, 88-92 Z28 Camaro rotors 5 4 3/4 are used...

I was able to weigh my 1979 C-10, with no driver it weighed 4040 pounds, big ten long bed, turbo 350, iron headed small block, factory wheels, no air conditioning. It also has the 3.07 rear gear.

    1979 C-10

Good question: Because we were in the middle of building my sons 302 and had bought several virgin 327 core engines, I DO NOT like nice virgin GM engine cores to go to waste, or just sit around and never do anything with them, and I wanted my 14 year old son to understand what its like to build...

    1979 C-10

That sticker is gone. Surprising the truck was fairly virgin, and the rear end is original, I do plan to build another rear rear end for the truck, and then I can call it done. I just hope theres not 3.08s in there, which will be counter productive to the 13 sec time slip I would like to see.

    1979 C-10

I finally got my 327 installed in my 1979 C-10 big ten. Hoping to get the drag strip next week and I have a few questions for the experts. 1. 350 non air, turbo 350, 12 bolt open rear end, typically what gears could this truck have? 2. Does anyone make light weight drag race wheels for this 5...
