    Dakota Digital RTX gauge cluster

You are right, everything made today is chinese junk. I've been buying OEM and NOS parts for the truck whenever possible. USA made stuff for most of the rest. I got the Squarebody Syndicate shortened steering column, made in USA by Ididit. Solid, all metal quality piece. These US made...

    Dakota Digital RTX gauge cluster

Yeah, that's the main reason I'm doing it all. Peace of mind. My truck isn't a daily, and it's in really good shape. Amazing shape, actually. But It's almost 50 years old lol. Who knows how much longer you'll be able to get glass fuses. I'm OCD too when it comes to wiring. I'll spend 2...

    Dakota Digital RTX gauge cluster

Yeah, it looks like the crimper is the only thing that's different. At least in the pix on the other guy's Amazon link. I'll get the square ones if they worked for you. I'm glad I decided to look for install threads for these. I found the BIM mounting bracket, a factory instrument cluster...

    Dakota Digital RTX gauge cluster

Yeah, I just inquired about those in the other one thread lol. Wasn't sure if the original poster had used the hexagonal or square ferrules. Do you know which ones are right? I see the other guy hasn't been active on here in a few months, not sure if he's still around. I never even knew...

Dakota Digital install with American Autowire harness- ETA adding TCI 4L60E control to the install

Sorry to ressurect another old thread on this! Just to clarify, did you get the hexagonal or square ferrule kit on Amazon? I see both options on the page that comes up with your link. I never would have even known something like that existed, thank you for sharing! This will make the install...

    Dakota Digital RTX gauge cluster

I see your oil pressure gauge looks to be offset just like my fuel gauge. Well, that cinches it lol. I guess i'ts supposed to be that way. Now that folks have mentioned it, and I think about it, I guess it does make sense for that one to be offset. It would be hard to see the right side if...

    Dakota Digital RTX gauge cluster

That very well could be. I posted this in several FB groups too, and so far everyone is saying that theirs are the same way. Never even considered that it was intentional. My mind always goes to doom & gloom first lol. My glass is broken, not half full or half empty haha.

    Dakota Digital RTX gauge cluster

Well, I doubt they'd still be selling defective ones 18 months later. I'm sure somebody else would have noticed it during that time lol. Next time I'm in the mood I'll try installing it in the bezel and see how it looks. I'll let you know what Dakota says, I'm going to call them on Monday and...

    Dakota Digital RTX gauge cluster

I did hold my bezel over it to see, but it still looked crooked. I did not actually install it with the provided hardware, maybe that will make it look correct. Thanks for the reply! Maybe there was a bad batch of them. I ordered mine in June, when did you order yours?

    Dakota Digital RTX Install Critique

Thank you for this write-up. I ordered those 2 parts, was not looking forward to cutting and spling all that stuff lol. Was your fuel gauge crooked on your RTX gague cluster? Mine is offset noticably to the left, while the other 3 are centered.

    Dakota Digital RTX gauge cluster

Has anybody with the Dakota RTX series gauge cluster noticed that the gas gauge is not centered in the circle like the other 3 gauges are? Mine is offset significantly to the left. I just noticed it now, ordered back in June or July, so it's probably too late to get them to do anything about...

Fresh Air vents with factory A/C?

Were you able to put the manual vent on the driver side too? Curious if that's possible on the a/c trucks. My old Dodge has one, and it's really nice, I use it all the time. It lets in a LOT of air. I like windows down cruising unless it's absolutely miserable out.

Fresh Air vents with factory A/C?

Thanks for the info folks, that explains why I can't find the pull handle for it lol. I never thought it might be operated by the HVAC panel. I hope my truck still has the plenum and related bits to make it work, I see it's grayed out on LMC. That'll be fun to track down. I'll have to check...

Fresh Air vents with factory A/C?

I've got a 1977 Sierra Grande with factory A/C. Is there supposed to be a fresh air vent assembly on the passenger side on this truck? Can't seem to find any solid info on this. I'm seeing the valve assembly on LMC and USA1, but I can't seem to find the pull handle that would open/close it...

Kick panels with 6.5" speaker pods

Are there any good brands of kick panels with speaker enclosures for the '73-80 trucks with factory a/c? That will allow the parking brake to be used? The ones I got from USA1 say they're for '73-87, and they look absolutely nothing like the kick panels I've got now. Unfortunately, mine are...

My wife is small and is pregnant

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm about to put a 6" lift and some 35s or possibly 37s on, and I'm too old and fat to get in there lol. Hopefully this will make it easier.

My wife is small and is pregnant

Did you have any problems with the saddle tanks? These are the only side steps that I've been able to find for these trucks that don't have the disclaimer of "will not fit vehicles with saddle tanks". I see you said they come with a frame brace, does it use existing holes or did you have to...

    Headlight bezel restoration

My truck is a light silver, so I'm not sure how good that would look. I haven't decided if I want to go black or the argent. I'm guessing it would be easiest to find the black paint though. Probably look best on there too.

    Headlight bezel restoration

I plan to get some polishing compound and use my drill. Got some polishing pads for it. Just go at it until it's stops getting shinier lol. Anyone know what kind of primer I should use? Not sure if it would be the same stuff for these chrome bezels as you'd use on plain metal or not.

    Headlight bezel restoration

Thanks. Any particular kind of primer to use? I'm not a painter, but I figure something as small as this I could probably give it a shot haha.

    Headlight bezel restoration

Has anybody restored their original metal headlight bezels for the '73-78 trucks? Mine are missing the argent paint that should be on the recessed part around the headlight. Curious as to what everyone has done to prep the surface, what primers and what paints are ideal for this. Thanks.

    Stock radio mounting

My dash has been hacked... horrendously poorly... for a now missing DIN style radio. Does anyone know if the factory style aftermarket radios out there need the metal structure to mount, or do they just attach to the instrument bezel? I'm looking at the USA-740 from Custom Autosound. Really...

Did the NP203 change internally between 1974 and 1977?

Well, mine is a '77, and so is the used case I got according to the tag on it. So if that's all that changed, I guess I'm OK. Now I'm concerned as to whether or not I should spend the $300 on a new chain too. I suppose that if I'm going back to full time 4x4 with 33x12.50s in the future, it...

Did the NP203 change internally between 1974 and 1977?

The only shop manual I can find for the NP203 that goes into great and specific detail with step by step procedures with photos is this one https://ck5.com/forums/threads/np203-rebuild-guide.341563/ but it's for a 1974. Are the procedures and tools required the same? I've found all of the...

    np203 shifter

It may be the case itself, not sure. I'll pull the shifter linkages off and see what happens. I have a rebuild kit ordered for the case. I'm going to attempt doing it myself, fingers crossed haha. It seems easy enough to do though, I've watched a couple youtube videos of it. Hopefully the...
