    drive shaft hits crossmember

Glad to hear they have held up. Keyboard engineering isn't as important as long term field testing. The kit that RC currently sells looks like a composite material, with a few holes in it. Do you know who else sells these kits?

    drive shaft hits crossmember

Doesn't that put a lot more stress on the bolts and the holes in the frame? Normally you have the whole edge/face of the crossmember contacting the frame to distribute force.

    Front Drive Shaft Bolts

Looks like there is already a thread for this problem... taking the action over there. drive shaft hits crossmember

    drive shaft hits crossmember

I'm pretty sure I have an NP208. Its a 1984 K10. All of that work sounds expensive. What about my T/C mount/bushings? RoughCountry sells GM T/C Drop Kits with their 4" lifts... My issue is the driveshaft is too close to the crossmember. I imagine this would make my problem worse? My truck...

    drive shaft hits crossmember

I have this problem where the front shaft knocks/taps against the crossmember. How did you "eliminate the double cardan joint"? What amount of clearance do you need?

    Front Drive Shaft Bolts

Jerry, That is some serious HOWTO/Pin worthy info. Thanks! :headbang: It does look a bit involved. But I don't think I need to do it. Driveshaft barely clears the crossmember, probably 1/4 to 1/2". And when I romp on the throttle it clicks or when the chassis is torqued. My first guess...

    Heat/AC Distribution Troubleshooting/Vacuum Control

Bumping for any ideas for the next thing to check. 1.) I have heat, and pretty good blower pressure at the upper vents. 2.) The flapper door at the floor does close when I move the control to defrost. 3.) There is no heat nor pressure at either of the vents on the dashboard (defrosters) 4.) I...

    Front Drive Shaft Bolts

I already bolted the driveshaft up with 3/8"-16 x 1 1/2" Grade 8 Flanged Bolts with nuts on the back. Fits pretty well I don't think it'll be going anywhere. I agree that your solution would be best, but I would need to remove the flange from the vehicle to ensure I drilled it correctly. I...

    Heat/AC Distribution Troubleshooting/Vacuum Control

For the time being i rigged my own defroster system. Patent pending.

    Heat/AC Distribution Troubleshooting/Vacuum Control

Bumping from the dead... I took off the diffuser on the floor, and the door does close on the floor when I move the lever to defrost. It does this slowly, and once or twice I had to wiggle the lines behind the control panel. When the door was closed I still didn't feel any hot air...

    Front Drive Shaft Bolts

I've been meaning to make another trip out there. Tap and Die sets have been on my list for awhile but I always forget to snag a set.

    Front Drive Shaft Bolts

Thanks for checking. I honestly have been thinking about it... I would bet that the previous owner messed up these threads somehow. The last owner doing somethin' stupid has been the explanation for about 90% of my headaches. Based on what I've tried so far: 3/8" = 0.3750" = 9.5250mm --...

    Front Drive Shaft Bolts

Just saw your post. I think this is what I'm going to do. I don't see how there can exist a bolt that will actually thread into this thing. There isn't anything I can get my hands on between a 3/8" and M10.

    Front Drive Shaft Bolts

Yes. I know that the bolts should not thread into the holes on the flange on the driveshaft. I want bolts that will thread into the flange on the T/C. I believe the T/C is a NP208. I'm considering just using 3/8"-16 bolts with nuts on the ends at this point. Maybe they aren't supposed to thread...

    Front Drive Shaft Bolts

Already got the yoke/straps all sorted. It's the transfer case side bolts. Parts stores were stumped/clueless about the T/C side.

    Front Drive Shaft Bolts

Ok. Bumping this thread from the dead. I feel like I'm completely losing my mind. I got some Grade 8 3/8-16x1" bolts and they are too small by a tiny margin. They thread in but I can wiggle the bolts out and they won't completely tighten. I tried M10 bolts coarse and fine thread, but those are...

    Chevy lean

My pickup looks like the bed is twisted because of lousy springs. If I were you I would start by looking at the springs and take some measurements.

    Power Steering Belt Adjustment

Ok. I'm sold on OEM parts. I'm looking at the first diagram and I believe that I want the brackets in the lower image. My power steering has two belts on it's pully. Where do you order yours? A Chevy dealer?

    Transmission Indicator Cable

Ahhh. That's the secret. That little groove changes the direction so it pulls properly. It looked like a cracked mounting tab to me. Thanks!

    Power Steering Belt Adjustment

Thanks for the info! Where are you getting this stuff from? Also I was having trouble finding that part, but I think LMC has it here: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=138 I think the kit with all the hardware might be handy, even if it is a bit more expensive.

    Power Steering Belt Adjustment

Anybody know where I can get this bracket? I didn't see it on RockAuto. I can call some salvage yards I guess.

    Transmission Indicator Cable

My problem I think is that there must be a pin/dowel missing on the cluster. If I hook the cable directly to the column the pull on the cable is straight down and it binds and won't get past OD.

    Transmission Indicator Cable

I'm not sure what it's called exactly - the orange pin that indicates transmission gear position. I went to replace it today and I realized that the issue was the cable wasn't hooked up to anything. I've been searching the shift column and haven't found anything. Where do I hook the cable end to?
