Milky oil after 1984 K10 305 top end rebuild.

Thank you for confirming the measurements. Now I'm thinking it may be another intake manifold seal leak and not a head gasket. Since heads where cut flat and a Fel pro 8510 pt / 3.855" was used and all bolt threads were sealed. Torqued to spec and sequence in three steps. Is there anyway to...

Milky oil after 1984 K10 305 top end rebuild.

Hi everyone, About 8-10 months ago I tore down the top end (removed intake and heads) to fix a head gasket leak in cyl #8. This cylinder had water when I pulled the spark plug to do basic maintenance and led me to remove the heads etc. Anyways after getting valves reseated (new stem seals) and...

    K10 tube Yoke Size/Series etc?

Quick update on my situation. I said I would reinstall the driveshaft and measure the slip yoke but I didn't. Instead (yesterday) I dropped the transmission and transfer case to install new seals (transfer/trans/rear main). So now I have the truck in pieces again :(... and found out I also need...

    K10 tube Yoke Size/Series etc?

Good point. I should probably put the driveshaft back on this weekend and take some detailed measurements to have a better idea on the engagement. That should give us an idea on wether or not I could safely drive it with a 4" lift.

    K10 tube Yoke Size/Series etc?

Its a long bed. The driveshaft is thinner in diameter as it reaches the yokes and where they weld but I havent taken any measurements yet. I do know that the slip yoke had about 3" exposed from the end of the transfer case and about the same into the transfer case as I slipped it out. This was...

    K10 tube Yoke Size/Series etc?

Thank you bucket, I need to extend the shaft for proper engagement on the transfer case output splines. Therefore a new shaft would be the best option intead of extending. My k10 has 2" lift blocks and that may be the reason why the yoke that slips into the transfer case is so far out. I also...

    K10 tube Yoke Size/Series etc?

Hi, I'm trying to identify what size yoke or "series" are the tube yokes on my rear driveshaft. Ive researched several websites including Fort Wayne, Spicer and others that appeared on google without luck. Does anyone have an idea what are the stock tube yokes on a 1984 K10? or a good...

Extension of a shock absorber with no load on vehicle (at rest)??

Thank you all for the suggestions. Additional info: I do not do any rock crawling or heavy off-roading, its basically a home use work truck to carry stuff (move small equipment, construction lumber, pipe, rebar, concrete bags and block, landscaping materials). For whatever I need to move around...

Extension of a shock absorber with no load on vehicle (at rest)??

Hi, Im in the process of dealing with the rear shock mounts on my K10. I have currently the stock shocks with a 2" lift block. I have a plan to relocate the top shock attachment point to avoid the elongated stud hole in the frame and future frame cracks. Before I go any further I need to...

    Front axle tube slipping out?

Thanks for the post Britt. On your photo: I do notice the shinny space u mention on the tube and most importantly I do see what looks like a machined (lathe cut) surface and the "step" to the unmachined tube about 3/4" from the shinny space. If you were to clean that tube with degreaser and a...

    Front axle tube slipping out?

I also wire brushed the plug weld in question and there is a crack but dont see it has detached from the casting. Seems like a weld shrinking crack "normal" and there is also another plug weld on the back of this axle tube.

    Front axle tube slipping out?

Hi, Ok measured again at 31 3/8 to 1/2". Removed the differential cover and looked inside. Noticed the driver's side axle further into the center carrier about 1/8" more than the passenger's side. Was able to push it out with my finger and both axles are flush with the spider gear. Didn't...

    Front axle tube slipping out?

I just measured the spacing from one perch to the other (centers) and got 31 3/8". Its a bit uncomfortable with the steering link and diff in the way but that's pretty accurate for now and only 1/8" from the spec of 31 1/2". Over the weekend Ill double check and wire wheel the plug weld to...

    Front axle tube slipping out?

Thank you Bucket, Ill check it again tonight and measure spacing from one perch to the other, hopefully the measurement checks out ok. I didn't notice the plug weld crack until now (at about 10oclock); Ill verify that also.

    Front axle tube slipping out?

Thank you Charlie, Rusty and CSFJ for you input. I see what you mean by the raised area in the casting, its width and the width of the machined tube exposed. They seem to match width wise and we could assume that it has slipped out. Then again...Like you said, if it slipped out that much it...

    Front axle tube slipping out?

Hi everyone, I've been following the forum for the past month or so and this is my first post. I recently purchased a 1984 K10 and I'm in the process of "restoring" it to make it reliable. Some of the projects I have on list are: Changing fuel tank (rusted), Fixing enlarged rear shock mount...
