This makes 0 sense to me! Heater hose route

Unfortunately the port on the rad is there and with the trans cooler there they tend to work together. Not wanting to plug a big hole if I don’t need to

    Tach not registering

Cleaned up the terminal block, crimped new ends on both the ground and the signal wires. Added a ground from the head to the firewall. All gauges are alive now with the exception of the tach. I think I’ve kicked the dead horse enough and I may have to purchase a new tach. Fingers crossed it...

Front edge of hood sitting high.

You could be on to something here. I was finishing up the hood latch and realized there is no catch latch hole on the hood.

So in reality the difference from intake connection and water pump connection is a few minutes earlier hot coolant through the core. As it will be constantly flowing if connected to the water pump back into the rad till the rad sees warm coolant.

This has been the thought of being on the cold side till the thermostat opens. But does the connection on the intake not get flow till the thermostat is open anyway ?

I’m planning on going water pump to heater core return to rad. Only reason is That’s my my plan. I need the port on the intake for a temp sensor. That’s where the wire goes to already so that’s where the sensor is going.

I tested power to the tach 12v I tested ground good continuity I tested the tach signal wire good continuity The gauge pegs to the bottom every time. When I turn the blinker on you can see the needle twitch with the blinker. Dirty ground? Screwed gauge?

The brown wire runs through the firewall right to the gauge. I have not spotted a filter that I can tell as of yet. There are 2 items that I can’t seem to identify. One on the fire wall and one behind the dash with a pink wire going to it.

    factory temp gauge wire color

Revive an old one but. I’ve been chasing wires from po and so far all the factory gauges are still working minus the tach (still troubleshooting) My green wire is routed to the passenger side of the block and left dangling. Moving it to the drivers side and connecting to sensor or drivers side...

I see it now. I thought it was an either or diagram. Autos going to the rad and manual s going to the water pump

This makes 0 sense to me! Heater hose route

I will swap the hoses out. From the second image it looks like auto trans should be rad to core core to manifold. Eliminating the water pump connection. I feel this would block the heater core off till the thermostat opens though

I’m thinking capping the intake port and flowing rad in pump out or vice versa. I’m not super mechanically inclined so the help I get on here is amazing and greatly appreciated

I with mine was so nice. After giggling the wire the gauge actually moves further backwards instead of registering the rpm. I’m starting to thing the gauge is fubar.

Can someone shed some light on this monstrosity of a heater hose routing. Rad to heater core with tee to intake manifold Heater core to water pump This seems janky to say the least.

    Tach not registering

I traced the wire from the gauge to the distributor and it has definitely been altered. The terminal has a aftermarket female terminal on it that is very loosely plugged into the tach port. I’m going to replace the terminal and see if it fixes the issue.
