    Low throttle bog

Got it. I'll check that tomorrow. But what about the vacuum advance? No way to check that?

    Low throttle bog

Yeah you're right. It probably could use a tune up anyway. I know the whole ign system has over 60k on it. I'll pull the cap and check the rotor button. Does it use points? Using a simple vacuum hand pump i can check to see if the advance is working right?

    Transmission? Motor? Need some direction.

Does it have the original big waffle looking catalytic converter hooked to those headers? Your symptoms sound like a clogged converter. They'll build up exhaust pressure after driving for awhile and will allow you to rev in Neutral but no power in gear. Transmission seems to be working right. It...

    Good a/c compressor source?

So today I was under the hood doing brake master cylinder work to my truck. I noticed the compressor is covered in oil/dye. Now I know why my a/c has been getting weaker. Has anyone had good luck with the common Four seasons ones they sell at the local auto stores and rockauto? Or is there any...

    New Project 84-c10 - Options?

I grew up at a Nissan dealer so I know how things are with aluminum everything. I work at a Chrysler/Mitsu dealer now and with FIAT buying into it the Dart is the same way, even the chassis and frame are aluminum. Bowtie lovers Don't judge me at least I went american. I've just always loved the...

    Low throttle bog

So the intake could take care of it since it'll elimiante EGR and EVAP which I've wanted to do. I want the alum. intake and a better carb but keep the stock look

    Low throttle bog

I'm thinking it could have something to do with the vacuum advance. It's run off a thermo switch that allows vacuum only when warm. There's 2 of them on the truck that control the EGR, vacuum advance and evap canister. I know what's wrong with my choke. It's electric and the rivet on the cover...

    rotor conversion? issue

I have no idea. 71-91 trucks all used 5x127mm or 5.5"? Idk I'm not a conversion wizard. Now some of the older stuff had a 5x120mm but that wasn't small enough to make 4 3/4" There were some cars in the 80s that used 5x100mm. Possible? Whatever it is it isn't what that truck is supposed to have...

    Low throttle bog

First off, engine: 305 auto 2wd 2bbl rochester carb So now that my vacuum leaks are fixed I noticed my truck runs alot better. However when it's cold at low throttle like barely off idle lightly accelerating the truck bogs like something is holding the engine back. It'll run good at med...

    rotor conversion? issue

Get calipers and mounts from the same truck you got the bigger rotors from? Make sure the spindles are the same lengths and such.

so what options were available in 1977?

I'd love to have a headlights ON reminder. I rarely drive without them and forget they're on alot since there's no reminder and the cluster lights can't be seen unless it's pitch black. Would power windows be worth swapping? Can't get them at the junkyard since they're rivited in if I remember...

I know this is an older thread but if someone wanted to go auto to manual how much harder would it be?

    New Project 84-c10 - Options?

I've got a 305 in my 81. I've been considering an edelbrock SB intake with 1406 carb or a quadrajet carb if you're looking cheap. I prefer bolt on and go from the edelbrock 1406. Does your truck diesel for a few seconds after shut-off? If so yours may have the same problem as mine, there's a...

    Carb questions

I'm thinking its a spacer. Gota check for sure. All the engines in the junkyard were missing carbs and they all had a 4 bbl intake. Any mods that need to be done to put the quadrajet on? Will all the linkages and such fit with no issues?

    Carb questions

Kind of a thread jack here but I see a lot of mention Of quadrajets. I've got a 305 with a 2bbl rochester. I want to upgrade to a 4bbl. I'm not looking for a race purpose, I want to keep streetable but good for towing and hauling. Right now my carb needs some work. It drips gas after I shut the...

    original radio wiring

Yeah I pulled it out and put my finger in the socket. I didn't feel any pins so this was a base type stereo. I've been wanting to go with this one for awhile. It should plug into the stock wiring and use the factory knobs. It's got better audio output with ipod hookup in the back too which I...

    original radio wiring

My left rear knob only controls bass to the front speaker. My right rear knob does nothing but spin like it was put there for decoration. There isn't a fader or balance adjuster on it. I pulled them off to check and the knob isn't notched for any kind of adjuster like the left one is. Maybe the...

    original radio wiring

I still have front speaker output like before just nothing from the rears I just installed. I didn't think about it not having pins. It's kinda hard to get to until you figure out how to lay yourself under the dash. I'll pull the connector tomorrow and check for pins. Figured they would be there...

    original radio wiring

Yeah it is. Do I need to get a radio from a suburban, blazer or a truck that had rear speakers? Or buy that fancy one I've been eyeballing from LMC lol

    original radio wiring

So I got my new speakers in the mail yesterday and hooked it all up today. I got the blues to the right and brown/yellows to the left side. It's wired according to the diagram but no sound from the rears. I'm wondering if the system is sensitive to pos/neg on the speakers? Most systems now can...

    82 Sierra stock speaker location..

It's all the same. I had enough dash pads out at the junkyard. There's holes for all 3 speakers. Pad has to come off to get to any of them.

    Spongy brakes

I ordered new stainless lines, stainless flex hoses and joint from LMC. (I'll have to replace the lines in order to change the flex hoses since they're all rusted together) I've got a new master, new calipers, pads & rotors + wheel bearings. The rear wheel cylinders and shoes are new. Replaced...

    Spongy brakes

Yeah I managed to get the axle lines replaced. I had to cut the lines and put a socket on the fittings due to the rust, otherwise they just wanted to strip. I left the lines on the cylinders and pulled them all out together. There is no longer anything to put a socket on at the flex hose side so...

    Spongy brakes

I'm not sure but would I assume it did judging by the black fluid. The original owner drove it occasionally, he passed then the family enherited it, rebuilt the engine, got it running and sold it to the guy I bought it from who drove it for over 3 years and put 60k on it. I plan to replace the...

    original radio wiring

That's what I needed. Makes sense why my truck had one plug missing. Still wierd the truck I got the connectors from was wired completely different. It was a 3/4 ton silverado. I had the dash out and traced the wires and the DK blue/LT blue went to the LF not the RR. Everything was backwards so...
