moving 4x4 shifter to driver side.

well it was just a thought not an actual project. eventually I want to build a 3+3 cummins allison np205 and i thought it would be nice to have the shifter closer to the driver. especially considering i want a custom center console with console shifter for the trans. don't want to be leaning all...

moving 4x4 shifter to driver side.

Just wondering if anyone knows if its possible or feasible to have the 4x4 shiter on the driver side without going driver side drop? like retaining stock axles and t-case but haveing a gmt400 shifter. edit:I guess one could go cable shifted that wouldn't be too hard right?

    What trans/tcase in cummins swap??

alot of people use the dodge auto. you could also use an allison but it gets a little expensive. you could go 4l80e but people say a fully built 4l80 will only hold a stock cummins. personally i like the allison and thats the route i would go... money permitting. cheapest way is nv4500. check...

    89-91 burb k10 frame for my 81 c10

my main concern was the difference in the frames as this is my daily driver. but would love to have 4x4 for the trails. I hate the look of flatbeds on single rear tires but read that the difference in the frames made it hard to adapt a regular bed. plus there is the whole wheelbase thing.

    89-91 burb k10 frame for my 81 c10

yeah ive been toying the idea about a custom flatbed kinda thing. or getting a donor bed and chopping 2 inches out. i think for the time a flatbed would be the best option. just cant decide whether to do that or just swap 4x4 suspension to my frame.

    89-91 burb k10 frame for my 81 c10

I know this sounds odd and I'm a little leery about it myself but I have the opportunity to aquire a k10 burb(I believe a 90.) and wondered about using the frame to convert my c10 to 4x4. I know the wheelbase is 2 inches shorter but couldn't I relocate the axle? I could always go flatbed but...

    power dumbo mirrors?

im pretty sure but you don't need the base just the mirror and tube. they should mount to your base. heres an inner look of the dodge ones.they have different mounting holes in the base. the chevy ones are the same as normal dumbo mirrors just with a power head.

    power dumbo mirrors?

dodge vans, chevy vans, 90's dodge trucks. super easy to mount. its the same as dumbo mirrors just drill a hole for wiring and add a switch.

i like the look of them both. i also like the 3 post mount on single cab 1ton dually flatbeds. but only on those. however power adjustment is nice plus you can add common ammenities like signals and heat too. but the biggest reason i like them is i can adjust my passenger side mirror without...

and in case anyone was wondering yes you have to drill all new holes and 1inch bolts with flat washers to the mirrors and fender washers both inside and outside of the door skin will clear the window on the inside however... MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMEONE WITH TINY HANDS TO HELP BOLT THEM ON. lol :33:

they are now...thats my truck. pulled them from a 90 burb that was t-boned just have to tuck some wires and put the door panels back on. they work great. a little bouncy on rough roads but all in all i think worth it. i can see behind my truck so much better with these than with the dumbo...
