    Vortec 454 7.4l vs Vortec 496 8.1l

If you really want to get into head swapping and all that, like, legitimately spend 3 or 4k and build a 5, 600 hp N/A engine, the 454 is a better base. If you just want to tow your junk on cheap gas, the 8.1 all day. You don't need Raylar at all to make nearly 600 ft/lbs of torque. They...

    Light bucket assembly

I having a ridiculously difficult time with this. I think I have the wrong bezels or something, because if this light bucket is assembled correctly, then my bezel doesn't line up with the holes at all.

    5.3 or 6.0 ?

I've had fine luck buying them on pallets, I've also sold them on pallets. You win some, you lose some I guess. I do agree a total donor is a good way to go if you have the space.

    5.3 or 6.0 ?

New Holland Ohio, but he's really not unique, there are a half dozen guy's parting out GMT800 trucks daily around me in Central Michigan. Two of them I know of will happily load whatever onto a pallet and drop it off at a Fastenal. Where there's a will there's a way. I get in my truck and...

    Skip White Distributors

I've had great luck with exactly this type of distributor in this price range. Once upon a time, I bought one for a 351w, then like 5 days later found a MSD Streetfire NIB on Craigslist. I went to buy the MSD for "peace of mind". The no name one and the MSD were in the same box. MSD just had a...

    Skip White Distributors

I guess not. The market is pretty well flooded with imports now. I've had good luck with no name imports as well as Skip White.

New to Square body.. electrical nightmare...

I have to agree. I'm riding around now with a basic fuseblock and push button starter, and to really start getting relays and wiring everything up.. I'd easily get into it for 250-300 bucks pretty quick.

Who makes the best dash pad?

Takes about 225 bucks in Central Michigan. Of course, I had to call 53 places to get that price and find someone even willing to do it.

    bad camshafts on 305's,,?

What I did with it was left it right wherever it was and drove on home. I bought a 78 K5 about 15 years ago in Arizona, lost 3 lobes on the way home to Ohio in Van Zandt Texas. Parked it in the back corner of a truck stop there and spent 2 days walking down the little main drag to Car Quest to...

    Drum Brake help

I knew they were complex... I seriously think drum brakes are proof aliens have interfered with our development as a species... How do you come up with this gobbleydegook before a simple caliper pressing on a disc??

    Drum Brake help

I'm not really nearly as familiar with drum brakes as I should be. Throughout the years I've tended to just pull it all off and disc swap everything. That was my intention with the C10 as well, but I have no brakes at all now in the rear, and I think that's something I can rectify for like 100...

    Quadrajet to Edelbrock Carb

The last time I swapped a square to an Edelbrock, which has been at least 10 years now, I had an issue with the adapter I used. The carb butterflies were hitting the intake or the adapter, I don't recall which. I could only get like 1/2 throttle though. I wound up getting a matching...

FWIW, if you didn't know, that panel and controller are under 100 bucks together. But it's a cool bugout shell.
