Look like a crack to you??

The straight lines are NOT cracks. I don't see any carbon on the piston, may be the lighting. Bob

Look like a crack to you??

Is all the carbon gone in that cylinder? Carbon gone indicates that is the cylinder where the leak is. Are you referring to the vertical straight lines? Those come from 1 broken ring (I don't think so) or 2 debris riding up and down with rings (like big chunks of carbon blasted loose in...

    Rear view cameras

Maybe install two cameras, one each side of rear window at drivers eye level. Blind spot solved. Have to read the law for sure.

    Rear view cameras

Has anyone tried to get rid of their rearview mirrors by installing a rearview camera? Sure would clean up the sides of the truck.

    Door won't close

Remember too that the door has two latched positions, you might need to move the striker out instead of in, just a thought. Bob

    New rings are too tight.

I'd install one ring only and see which ring was causing the problem. Do the oil ring first. Is it a 3 piece ring? I loved those Seal Power rings (oil), but they can be buggers to assemble right. You did clean out the bottoms of the ring lands. Make sure the depth of the ring fits the piston. Bob

    battery tray difference

Just looked at my '81, the battery tray and support are a welded unit and looking at the mounting holes I'd say the LH one is a mirror copy of the RH. The inner fender even has dimples where you need to drill mounting holes. Bob

    OD Green

Look at my albums, I rolled that paint on, Rustoleum 50/50 with mineral spirits, takes lots of time, but did the truck for around $250-300. It looks ever better after a couple of month when the paint shrinks some and lots of orange peel disappears. YMMV Bob

    Doing Paintjob At Home

Are you changing color, you have to decide where to make the break from the old color to the new color. I removed the front fender and doors so they can be painted laying flat, reduced runs, somewhat. I removed door weather strip and made the color break at the welded joint and the weather strip...

    Doing Paintjob At Home

I washed mine with TSP, then wiped down with Preps-All(degreaser), after sanding, it got wiped down with Metal-Prep(rust killer) rinsed off real good, finally wiped with a tackrag right before primer and paint. If you are using a two part paint you'll need to sand off ALL of the original paint...

    Door adjustment

The cab is solid but not that solid, it can be flexed. The front fenders do bolt up solid to the cab, but have large holes to allow adjustment. It can be a real chase your tail thing getting all of gaps looking right. I run up all the bolts finger tight and move it around as needed.

    Door adjustment

Well you do have a point there. 50/50 solution of ATF and acetone makes a great penetrating oil and most of the fender bolts can be squirted on the backside.

It is so easy to remove the driver side fender I removed mine when I installed new hinges and adjusted the door to the opening then reinstalled fender. YMMV Bob
