ok so the motors out of the donor... was quite a bit of f$%king around to get out even with the front clip and cross member removed! think I'm gonna have to take the front clip off the 87 too.... Can someone answer me a quick question? the vortec has 3 lines coming from engine... a bigger one...- dangOl'dodge

well, not sure if anyones still following this but i got the donor truck running again.. the stater was completely dead, replaced that and its running good again. also, built and engine hoist out of 6x6 wood and got the 4.3/th350 pulled from my 87 yesterday... will be cleaning up the engine...- dangOl'dodge

little update on the swap... my motor mounts came in today, in the process of making an engine lift out of 6x6 wood i have at the house. went out to start the donor vehicle and it would only start for 15 seconds at a time before it would start dying down and eventually shut off.. it seemed like...- dangOl'dodge

ahh rats i figured the rear end would be to good to be true... wonder if the 10 bolt is work putting a 3.73 locker in... probably not eh:( on a side note... scored a set of frame mounts today locally... mint condition from an 86 chev 1500 2wd with 305 in.. project back on track!- dangOl'dodge

Vortec Heads vs OEM SBC Old School Heads
can anyone tell me if the gears from the 2000 rear end gears will fit the 10 bolt 8.5 in my 87? just did a little investigating and found out the 87 has a worn out limited slip with 3.08 gears and the 2000 has the g80 with towing package so i assume it must have atleast 3.73 gears in it- dangOl'dodge

Was just out digging through the shed... Thought i might of had a set off a 79 k5 blazer i had for parts... Could only find the motor mounts, just looking at the v6 and v8 mounts they look identical from what i could see, you sure they wont bolt up? Oh yeah.. And a few pics- dangOl'dodge

ahh i gotcha now.. gonna drop the tank on 87 and see what the sending unit looks like.. i know i changed the tank a few years ago but can't remember if i did the sending unit or not.. if it looks like it can be salvaged i may just swap the pumps! gonna try to upload a few pics of the swap as...- dangOl'dodge

Josh- donor truck is still complete and running until my motor mounts show up from dirty dingo so that trick in which removing each connector to vats while vehicle is started is exactly what i need! Foamy- got a link to the spectra pump? Still not 100% sure if your saying they make a 60psi...- dangOl'dodge

ok cool and I'm on a small island off the east coast of canada... you can only imagine what i pay for shipping... 50-100 usd for anything small.... won't get into something larger like a set of headers, brake drums ,etc so i will prob just keep the wiring harness stock.. as for the security...- dangOl'dodge

foamy do you know if i can use a sending unit from a newer 350 vortec too? when i search ep381 on rock auto it shows 1996 chevy 1500 5.7 vortec.. would rather change out the entire sending unit instead of just the fuel pump as I'm not sure what condition its in yet- dangOl'dodge
