Weld exhaust to downpipe, or weld on flanges and bolt it together?

If its stock exhaust that you are not planning on taking apart again i would just weld it together.

fuel guage goes to E when lights turned on

I would say ground issue also. It could also have a bad or weak connection from the posts on the gauge to the back of the gauge cluster. in my brothers s-10 the fuel gauge goes to empty and back to the level when you turn the blinker on :roflbow:. and goes empty when the lights are on.

    1976 c20 Suburban 2WD to 4WD Conversion

Id vote for moving the body to a 4x4 frame if it is easy enough to find in your area. I would do the same for my crew cab but it is near impossible to find a 4x4 crew cab long box frame up here in montana for less than 2K.

    Long bed to short bed

you could take the Burb frame and stretch it to the right wheel base for a short box. That way you get 4x4 and the short box, and still get to drive your Crew while you work on the frame.

    2wd lift kit

LOL same thing happened to my friend. They are not the best. The only way i would use them if i make a strap or something to hold it to the spring and the control arm. I have been pondering making a spacer that would weld in and just make the pocket 1 inch less deep and then add a short...

    2wd lift kit

I have been looking into this also. So far i have found no actual kit, but you can piece it together. The rear is easy, blocks, springs or a shackle flip. The front is a little harder. A couple options: Coil spacer, not preferable but easy. a 1 inch spacer yeilds about a 3 inch...

    Rust removal tools

There is one that is easy and takes very little elbow grease, the electrolyte bucket and a battery charger. Works really good on parts that can be removed, or i guess if you had a big enough bucket the whole truck.

    73-80 frame body mounts

Hey GreaseDog do you still have the core support/body mount?

    wheels

You could measure the bolt pattern of one of your stock wheels and the diameter of the center hub. As long as the bolt pattern is the same and the hub diameter is larger or the same as yours they should fit. You should check the back spacing also.

    Show Us Your Man Cave

The only flat place that is large enough to work on my crew cab is out in the street on Black tar coated asphalt. Its not sharp and pointy every where but it is hot as hell and occasionally a wrench or socket or someting will get stuck to the hot tar and is fun to remove and clean.

    off road brake trouble

I think you could get away from having to use an adjustable proportioning valve if you used ¾ ton calipers up front and ½ ton calipers in the rear, this could work due to the fact that the half ton calipers can not exert as much pressure as the fronts and keep the brake bias In check. I plan to...
