carburated vortec 350
You might want to ck that before you go out and buy a cover. the sheet metal issue on the timing cover is 1996 on up will not interchange with 1995 on down. Vortec intake not matching 906 heads
Yes they are for ac. Accepts the rear bracket for an A6 compressor. Rarely used these days.- 1984dually

8.1L/4L80E swap into 84 Dually
Installed the front clip. Ran the engine oil and transmission cooler lines. Using external coolers mounted in front of the rad. Been threw 4 drive belts and still haven't got one long enough. Lower hose if off a 6.2 diesel. Will have to add a spacer as the w/p inlet is smaller than the 6.2...- 1984dually

Is the one I got but thru Jegs. right now they have a $50.00 gift card from painless with purchase. Looked around the web and found it for 550.00. Pasted that on the Jegs page and that was what I paid plus at the time they were giving the chassis braided cover kit along with it.(190.00 +/-)- 1984dually

Pre lube tank? Tank filled with oil and pressurized with air. Hook it up to a oil port on the engine and pump the oil in. Works on any engine but best on later engines that have no way to turn over the oil pump without spinning over the engine. In my case the 8.1 has sat for awhile and want...- 1984dually

Decided to rewire the truck using a painless harness for the 73-87 trucks. Well built harness with every wire stenciled with where it goes. Directions also mentions where it started. Steering column is out of a 91 suburban. Get the wiper control from under the column if it has intermittent wipers. Think any square body truck with a od trans will work. Can do on the part numbers for the brackets. Will dig them up and post the first of the week. Going racing this weekend. On the engine fan I am using a 6.2 diesel radiator and shroud. Fan fits the hole good. Pulling the crank sensor makes sense. No easier time to do it.- 1984dually

Most may or may not know the problems with the acc drive system when installing an 8.1 in an earlier truck. Most common swap thread out there cuts the frame for ac compressor and exhaust clearance. Swapping from a th400 to a 4L80E is pretty easy. Trans can be bought fairly cheap now. Biggest headache would be the controller(cost as much as the entire engine/trans harness from Howell). Or go manual shift.- 1984dually

Opinion around is by trashing the torque management system and all the other ecm mods it should go over 400hp with increases torque and mileage. We'll see when it get going down the road. Looking to keep up with a couple of buddy's and their diesels.- 1984dually
