CA technically titles the frame so good call there.
BUT if it ‘twas a me. I’d drill the rivets out of the door jamb and swap the vin plate onto the new cab.
I’d pull the dash pad off the 73 ( no vin notch) and slide it onto the 79 dash to cover up the other vin.
MIGHT even be tempted to pull...

I mean, it’s horrible to read. Few areas I had to read twice to decipher the actual meaning.
Punctuation is really important when writing. You know the whole,
I helped my uncle jack off a horse.
Vs
I helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse.
Probably because he mention it not restarting not that it’s dying.
Common issue with the 6.2 DIESEL engine is worn IP causing exactly this issue.
Also an issue with the GPR sensing the engine being hot and not running the relay. So we force it to run for 15-25 seconds to heat them plugs and re...
I did one of those manual glow plug switches using a Ford starting solenoid for a buddy.
His issue was after sitting for an hour the truck was too cold to start but too hot for the glow plug relay to cycle.
But the water on the IP is a common way to see if the pump is worn out for sure.
I...
I’m in CA 95351. Not sure what the shipping would run but I’m willing to ship what ya need.
The panels themselves are sold but the rest of the door is intact. Mirrors are then big ass west coast style tow mirrors.
stainless.
Again, you’d have to seriously piss off CHP in order for that to happen. It’s not like it’s a hot rod.
I have LS swapped at least 10 diesels and no one has ever had an issue.
But keep playing Russian roulette and the possibility is always there.
You have a 6.2 diesel. That’s a smog exempt rig in CA.
You can put whatever you want in it and need not tell the DMV anything.
I’d LS swap it. Have done it in the past and will continue to do it in the future.
Now build a wicked engine in it and get pulled over by the wrong cop. He could say...
I used the Kilmat first. The second stuff was not sticky it was in a roll. I used the heater core and the fuse box to hold it into position. Plus the dash supporting mounts held it up too...
Unless this is a different solenoid than I'm use to none of the wires goes to ground. The two small wires, one goes to the ignition switch for cranking, the other could, but does not have to go to the ignition coil. It will function fine without a wire to the ignition system but the body of...
I’ll agree with posts above.
There’s no ground your circuit is floating. Usually there is a mounting ground on those if not it’s gunna need one of those smaller studs to be a ground. Test wisely and don’t let the magic smoke out.
I dunno the brand. My buddy owns a flooring shop and they also do that sound proof studio stuff.
It was basically a roll of high density closed foam.
I’ll see if I can get a brand name from him. It was maybe 1/2” thick.
When I did my truck I didn’t redo that factory pad. I used the sound deadening mat and some high density padding.
Figured it would do better than that crap from the 70s
I have a 98 and the starter took a crap it was a high dollar mini started from summit. Not much of a warranty.
Had the big ole boat anchor starter from when my 73 was an SBC.
I didn’t hesitate to put that in the 98 and I gotta say, it sounds better than those mini starters. Something about the...
Hmmm. Retired you’ll have to forgive me. I read class and first build. Led me to believe you were slightly younger.
Well I still stand by the statement that it’s redundant to use a 400 with plans to swap in the 80e but it is your truck.
I’m not sure what all is being tallied up for 25 k but I...
