Replacing Seats and Seatbelts on an 88 Suburban

I don't want to rebuild the current ones- it'll just cost too much money overall. I think I'm going to try to get buckets with built in seat belts out of less than 20 year old SUV if possible. Even if I had to spend $150 on a nice set, it would be cheaper than the new belts altogether. Any thoughts?

Replacing Seats and Seatbelts on an 88 Suburban

It's time to replace the front 3 point belts on the suburban, and also the front seats. I'm going to try for seats out of something from the early 2000's Suburbans perhaps, we'll see what I can find. In the mean time, I really need to get some new seat belts. The passenger belt mechanism is...

88 4wd Suburban 1/2T. Front brake issues, time to rebuid- or upgrade?

I was thinking the same things. I think this will turn into one of those "While I'm at it..." projects. Surely the outer axle seals need replacing. I'll have to check to see if these things even have inner axle seals. Thanks for all the replies, this has been really helpful!

88 4wd Suburban 1/2T. Front brake issues, time to rebuid- or upgrade?

Ah, hoses too! I hadn't thought of that. So, blow out the hard lines while replacing the calipers, hoses, pads, and master cylinder. Got it. Thank you. I'm thinking about a 2" lift in the future, perhaps longer brake hoses would be good at this point.

88 4wd Suburban 1/2T. Front brake issues, time to rebuid- or upgrade?

Hey everyone, 88 Suburban half ton with a 10 bolt front end. While driving at about 45mph it started pulling left really hard. By the time I figured out the front left brake was dragging, it was smoking very badly and pouring water on the wheel and hub caused it to sizzle immediately. Ouch...

    Electric Locks Completely Dead

Hi all, I have an 88 Burb with electric locks- they're dead. There was a blown 10A fuse in place, and the fuse block calls for a 20A. I replaced it with a 20A fuse. No go. Still dead. Can anyone point me at a good source for troubleshooting info? Thank you very much! :)

Tires/Wheels from newer Suburban to my 88 Suburban

I forgot to post a pic of what I ended up with! It rides a lot different with these mudders on it, but the price was right :)

Tires/Wheels from newer Suburban to my 88 Suburban

Thanks guys! I didn't realize offset would be such an issue, but they DO look a lot deeper now that I'm looking closer. At any rate, it's now moot. I just bought a nice set of 31" mudders from a guy who upgraded to 33's. Got them for a dang good price too!

Tires/Wheels from newer Suburban to my 88 Suburban

Howdy gents, I need new tires, and I'd like to replace the fairly discolored/rusty factory steely's on my 88 Suburban 1/2 ton 4x4. 6 on 5.5 as far as I know. I'm on a tight budget, and so I have had the idea that I'll find donor tires/wheels from something else being parted out by a private...

    1988 4x4 V1500- the work begins!

Howdy all, I've owned three suburbans. The first two were 3/4 ton trucks, and this is my first half ton. What is it? Well I'm glad you asked. 350, 700r4, 3.73's, 10 bolts front and rear, on stock wheels and 31's. Barn doors. 40 gallon tank. Factory tow package. I bought it as a family rig and...
