Starter problems after doing 5 speed swap

Pretty challenging to get in contact with their support. Sent them a couple of emails and tried calling half dozen times. Planning on letting it rip after I get back in town on Monday. Worst that happens is it slowly eats my ring gear over the summer and I get a new one put on over the winter...

Should I just try starting it and see what happens?

Starter problems after doing 5 speed swap

Has it ever been 1/2 engagement? Seems so little 2/3 meshing. Less that 1/2 engagement. Black line on pinon is how deep it goes into fly

Checked the order sheet that came with the kit and it is a 168.

Starter problems after doing 5 speed swap

Started up really well when running a jegs mini. Didn’t think too much of it because it sounded so good. No shims btw (2/3 of meshing). I haven’t tried starting it with oem starter although I’m curious because I’m afraid I will seriously damage the fly if I start it again. I’ve been very lucky...

Starter problems after doing 5 speed swap

Would the different sizes affect how far the starter will go out? I’m pretty sure it’s a 168 though

Starter problems after doing 5 speed swap

Out Crank is factory as far as I’m aware. It is a 2 piece. The kit was set up for the specs of my truck.

Starter problems after doing 5 speed swap

Yup definitely on correct. Possibly but it’s apart of a kit that was put together by American powertrain to fit my truck and work with a oem style starter. Just want to clarify I didn’t buy the parts individually.

Starter problems after doing 5 speed swap

ok yeah my flywheel is on right. Gears on side facing motor, ridge, and there’s no indent were the crank meets. I think it just has a nice Finnish on both sides.

Starter problems after doing 5 speed swap

I’m honestly hoping it’s as easy as flipping it around. I’m only confused because the gears are off the the side of the fly that is closest to the block and it has a ridge on the surface facing the block. Looking at flywheels there are also indents on the sides facing the transmission were it...

Starter problems after doing 5 speed swap

I’ve pulled the car off my lift under its own power. Wouldn’t that mean it’s all been installed correctly? I also think the fly is a nice Finnish on either side.

Starter problems after doing 5 speed swap

I’m fairly certain the fly has a nice finish on both sides but it’s been a few months since installing. The car has moved under it’s own power by the way.

Starter problems after doing 5 speed swap

someone please help me! Recently got an American powertrain t5 transmission swap kit (trans, fly wheel, clutch everything!) for my 78 c10 that has a remanufactures 350 crate motor. I talked to a guy at American powertrain and he said that oem starters are supposed to work with the kit but when...
