56 swap or not for dd

IIRC Kert's kit moves the front mount forward 4", this added with the extra 2.5" spring from the front eye to the center pin moves the axle forward 1.5". Add one of DIY4X's EZ Inch add a leaf, and you can end up with the axle 2.5" forward. If he has added more forward adjustment, your front...

    My 81 crew cab build

Do you have a plan for this truck, our are you just throwing whatever parts you come across at it? Cheaper, less work, and more fun if you're got a concrete plan and follow it.

Call DIY4X and talk to Kert. He's a great guy to deal with, and will lead you in the right direction.

    Yes.

56 swap or not for dd

You'll need to remount the front hangers. You'll also need to look into different shock mounts, and extended brake lines. I would advise against 56s in favor of 52s. You'll also need to use a sway bar on the front too, as 52s and 56s are VERY flexy, and unstable on the road without one.

    new work truck

Probably a for sale sign, and if that doesn't work, an appointment with the cutting torch. Square body chassis + Tbi big block + 4L80e + GMT 400 standard cab + flatbed = workhorse.

It is a 1 ton. He sold it on Thursday. If it were still available, you'd have to figure out how to talk me out of it. Had the trailer and help lined up to go get it and everything.

My Truck (and wife) story - and restoration...

Must've been something wrong with her that you haven't found yet. I mean, normally people trade good livestock for a bride, yours got thrown in for free with truck. Congrats man, looks like both were a good score. The fact she let you keep it, even though she doesn't like it confirms...

I'm guessing shackle angle is off, and the PO read about tuning shackle angle for ride improvement and/or suspension flex.

and it will be just as wrong when you do it. If the plates have the ubolts are on an angle, you're not only putting a tension load on them, but a lateral load as well. Not a good situation.

Heater Core Hoses and Heating Issues

I'm not sure I'd qualify anything with a Mr Gasket logo on it as "top of the line". Stant is the name you want to look for in thermostats.

here at truck trying to purchase!plz help ASAP

I'm having a really hard time believing this is a "36k original miles" truck, to much wrong with it. Either the milage is 100, or perhaps 200k off... Or that was the most brutal 36k ever. At 36k, for a nearly 30 year old truck, I'd be worried about things like brake and fuel lines, and rusted...
